How do we compare prices now then as uswitch are not reflecting the new price increase for EDF yet and i would like to make a decision soon. I made the switch to EDF yesterday and found out about the price increase about 2 hours later! Still got time to cancel the deal so need to act fastThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

For most EDF customers the time to review is once you have received their official notification of the price increase. That has to be a personal notification by letter, e mail or on the bill.
You then have a window of opportunity to let EDF know that you reject their price increase and intend to switch to a new supplier. That window is up to 20 working days after the notification .You ask them to hold prices at the original rate until your switch is completed.
I have asked EDF why they don't put something in their Q and A's for this price increase, to say which tariffs specifically are included or not affected.0 -
There was a bit of a thread last year about deliberate artificially new low DD's from them, some increased their levels, others accepted these figures as a great saving on their previous suppliers.
Those wanting to swop now will have a surprise when they go to clear their outstanding balances after this winter.
An excellent marketing ploy?
More just a mess up. I wouldn't give credit where it's not due.
Their systems, quite frankly haven't been fit for purpose, up to this point.:o0 -
Just spoken to EDF who says that all online tariffs are affected, my idea was to swiftly change from 6 to 7 (I put that to them and they said 'no point').
Their advice is to go onto a fixed tariff.
We are on 6 and apparantly, even though we have been with them some years and went on 6 last June, they will charge me if we swop suppliers before June.
This should however, give us more time to clear off our obvious debt to them from this winter.0 -
So it looks like the EDF advisers don't know what they are talking about, as usual.
This company should'nt be touched with a bargepole. I think I'm going to use any welcome bonus - if I get it - to pay the early termination charge so I can say "goodbye"."fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -

I just called them again, second time in 2 days and again they said Online S@ver V8 is not affected.
I asked : if the Standard Rate is going up 7% and Online S@ver V8 tracks it a 2% discount, please explain how the price is not affected?
The person I spoke to was unable to explain the discrepancy, she was just reading off a script.
Clear as mud.0 -
Just another thought people who are not switching/can't switch just yet. Remember to supply EDF with a meter reading on the 1st or 2nd of March so they do not estimate your usage at the old/new rates. Been there in the past with some companies and they have got it way out - usually in their favour surprisingly!0

Hi,
Just to let everyone know that the prices on uSwitch HAVE been updated to reflect EDF's price change.
To Reef, I'd also like to explain the vagueness on the price rise page - I wish we could publish full details for the exact change to all tariffs in all regions. Unfortunately, with so many to cover that it just isn't possible, which is why we go with the average.
