Surprised nobody has mentioned it, but if you have a c-section it normally takes up to a couple of months to heal properly. Just something to be considered.
  • i remember the 1st time going out with my 1st daughter

i thought it was like moving house
    spare nappies, spare spare nappies
    spare clothes, spare spare clothes

    you get the gist

after a few outings i realized how silly i was and slipped into having a ready to go bag (instead of filling the entire car & boot):o

i also think it will be ideal, and quite wonderful
    and you will welcome it

i hope you all have a wonderful time
    i wouldnt hesitate

Yes you may still be feeling a little weary and tired but this is a family holiday and everyone wil enjoy the time with the baby. If you are feeding then there will be lots of extra hands around to help out and the sunshine will be medication in itself.

I would recommend seeing if there is somewhere in the area that you can hire baby equipment from as this can save you travelling like you are moving out there forever!!!

My parents live in Spain and this is what we used to do - mine are growing up too fast!!

All that I would also say is if you are breastfeeding avoid the water, and also the ice in drinks as you dont want to pass anything over to baby.

Enjoy as other posters have mentioned it gets harder as they get older!!

yes your be fine, i understand your worries. but by 2 months old, baby will be looking around and enjoying things. baby will prob sleep all the way there. and your fmaily memebers will love seeing the little one.

It is only natural to worry.

Im sure everything will be fine but just a couple of points to consider:

you dont say when in October you are travelling, but if your dates are correct, then if the baby is 2 weeks late it could be born end Aug, so could be anything from just a month old when you travel.

do make sure you have got decent travel insurance, just in case of any issues. check you are covered for cancellation if you or the baby are unwell, as well as good medical cover while you are away. you should get travel insurance as soon as you book, so you will need to ask the travel insurance co. about arranging cover for someone whose name and date of birth may not yet be known!

you will also need to be quick off the mark to get a passport and EHIC card for the baby in time, again should be ok timewise but could easy be overlooked in the post birth haze.

    have a fun time!

We took our daughter to Turkey when she was 8 weeks old and it was honestly no hassle, she was sleeping nearly all the time as they do when that young and flight was fine. People at airport go out of way to make things easy. I a.so had a c section and was still good to go after 8 weeks x

    you have to go!
and you will regret not getting the break when the little one arrives

my boss went to south america with his 2.5 month year
when i asked why he didnt go later, he said under 6 months they are easier to manage - they just sleep

    go and enjoy it

  • Thanks everyone - I'm really looking forward to it now - barring complications- need to remember passport - good travel insurance and find out how you book flights for unborn babies!
    Thanks! :)

I had a c-section and quite a tough time but felt I bounced back quite quickly, I think it's all about mental attitude and I wasn't going to be one of those women who toddled about the hospital in a nightie, as soon as I was allowed up I hit the shower and got dressed, fair enough 24 hours after the section I could barely stand but it was important to me to start feeling and acting normal as soon as I could.

As it happened my little one was quite poorly and we had to stay in for another week and I got treated with so much more respect by the staff for dressing myself and when dealing with consultants etc I felt they took me more seriously.

Anyway, I've massively digressed there but my point is, yes if you have a section rest but get up and about as quickly as you can bear (it actually helps you heal) but by 8 weeks by god you'll be ready for a holiday, so snap it up and enjoy!

Everyone is different. I would not have been willing to go on this sort of visit (or any sort of visit). At the two month stage with my first, I'd have felt too fat and uncomfortable and vulnerable. I wouldn't have done this for my own family never mind OH's. (The baby weight came off quicker with my second and by the second time around you don't care so much!!)

However, don't let me put you off! And I second the decent insurance cover, particularly for you and baby. Hope you enjoy the trip. :)
