Personally I would not help an insurance company. The way I see it is they are the ones who are robbing people. My car insurance was more than double this year and I have never claimed a penny from insurance in my life. My excess has gone up from £150.00 to £375.00 and I was swindled out of 18 years no claims bonus because I changed my insurance company and they started me off at their maximum of 5 years NCB. Con merchants the lot of them, they have a licence to print money and they abuse it to the max.

everyone's insurance has gone up, insurance companies are losing money through fraudulent claims, and also because of uninsured drivers. You didnt have to change your insurance comany. you dont have to own a car. however it's the frauds who are raising the prices...

  • You realise that information is useless unless you make a signed statement and are prepared to give evidence in court when called to do so.

Not true. Are you just saying this to try to put people off reporting thieves? In this case they will check the medical medical records to see it is a false claim, but insurerers also use private eyes to gather evidence of false claims.

I know someone who found out that not only had the insurers spied on her at home and around her town, but also followed her as she travelled 300+ miles on the motorway and had attended the same event she went to. :rotfl:She thought that they wouldn't bother spying on her as she lived in a remote part of the country.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Without being rude, I think you should have just kept your nose out of that persons business. Reporting the fraud is going to cause you more trouble between the family than it would with the insurance company. Way to go for loosing your family's trust.

Considering the OP saying that this person has already stole from and swindeled the family members i fail to see where you are coming from with that.

I genuinly cannot see why there is so many people supporting the fraudster, its illegal!!! The person he is claiming is going to pay for this for years ( on top of rediculous prices)

Was it a whiplash claim? If this is the case it is unlikely that anyone can prove the claimant didnt have it.
  • Well I have seen both of my parents now and I think they have got over the shock that I rang and reported the fraud.

I understand some people's view that I could have kept my nose out. I suppose this is what I have been doing to keep the peace in the family for the last two years.
I guess I just flipped when I heard the latest little "scam", and thought this is ridiculous and it will never end.

Yes, my parents brought me up with a strong sense of right and wrong, and with principles and morals. I guess just wanted to put a stop to it all because it's wrong. They didn't give a damn about the person they claimed off, or the fact that it was fraudulent, it was just second nature to them.

    No it wasn't whiplash.

Surely the injury would have been proved before the insurance paid out?

Injuries can be faked. It would be easy to visit the doctor and complain of back pain an hour after the accident. Doctors can't prove you have/haven't back pain so all they can do is stick it in your medical records, which is enough evidence for the insurance/solicitors.

  • Im not going to pass judgement on whether i think you were right or wrong because you yourself know the full details of the claim and why you chose to report it BUT...

If the persons injuries can be backed up with medical records and trips to physio and such like , I honestly dont think that the "fraud" will be proven.

Many people can fool medics by saying that thier injuries are more painful and lingering than they really are but at the end of the day how can the insurance company weed out the claimants who are genuine from those who are not ? Medical records are examined before insurance claims are paid out and insurance companies also require claimants to attend consultation with "the big doctor" before they offer settlement .
The loopy one has gone :j
