Insurance fraud

You did absolutely the right thing.
As for "repercussions", whoever committed the fraud is responsible for these. If you hadn't shopped them, they'd have been rumbled at some point. They made their bed, they can lie in it.
If they didn't want the time, they shouldn't have done the crime.0 -
If the rest of the family have known for two years they could/should have done something about it but chose to ignore it, and the person has carried on. You on the other hand want to put a stop to it. Well done, you've done the right thing, the rest of the family have had their chance to sort it "their way" and failed.0

Thank you for your supportive comments.
Having got over the shock and upset of arguing with my father I stick by my principles and I am glad I did it.
My dad argued that my elderly grandmother is living with this person and their family, and this was the reason he didn't want them to be reported as it may have an effect on Grandma.
Also, if the investigation does come to anything, fingers will be pointed and Mum is anxious about that too - it is Mum that told me about the situation in the first place.
However I doubt that Mum is the only one who has been told about it, and perhaps in a few days she will come to realise that, and not feel so worried.0 -
Good on you.
Tough decision, but you did what you believe to be right.
The person involved has even fleeced relatives, so deserves what is coming.
Your parents brought you up with some understanding of right and wrong, so hopefully they'll come to appreciate that one day.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. So will our policies come down because the OP has grassed someone up? I seriously doubt it.0 -
What kind of fraud have they committed.
And what are your reasons for your reporting them.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Personally I would not help an insurance company. The way I see it is they are the ones who are robbing people. My car insurance was more than double this year and I have never claimed a penny from insurance in my life. My excess has gone up from £150.00 to £375.00 and I was swindled out of 18 years no claims bonus because I changed my insurance company and they started me off at their maximum of 5 years NCB. Con merchants the lot of them, they have a licence to print money and they abuse it to the max.0

I really get the impression that you are very immature.
You didnt report them because it is illegal, thats a cover for a multitude of things,
spite, jealousy, misplaced superiority, etc. gotta be one of them, not just because it is illegal, do you think we are stupid.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
