The sellers didn't tell you out of the kindness of their heart, they have to tell you by law, and if they don't then you can go back and sue them later regarding existing neighbour disputes.
Shame for the sellers, but don't buy it, sounds like a nightmare! 9 sets of people complaining is a hell of a lot!9/70lbs to lose 0 0

Might throw some light on it... but be aware it's a snapshot of december during the snow so maybe that has stopped some stuff.0

Or there are a lot of malicious people who'll complain about anyone.
 Either way run.
Yes, that is a possibility - I know an electrician who had to move out of his area because the other neighbours didn't like the fact that he was "blue-collar" and objected to him parking his van outside his property. The other neighbours made his life very unpleasant for absolutely no reason. He was a decent guy and decided to just get out, but he could well have retaliated and things can very quickly get out of hand due to no fault of the "bad" neighbour. It only needs one busybody to cause trouble and a whole group of neighbours can turn against a person for no reason.0

If you are the type that "can look after themsleves" or have a few "tasty" friends things will probably be OK. (with a suitable price reduction.
If you are the type that does not like confrontation I would walk away0

No offence meant to the OP, as there's nothing cool in being macho, but do they sound like the type who can 'look after themselves?' 0 0

I have only ever bought a new build, but if I was thinking of buying an old property, I would always go an talk to the neighbours on either side as a matter of course, and also some of the other neighbours, so I am amazed that most people don't (the house next to me was on the market recently and only two of the people who put in offers came round for a chat).0

OP: I really feel for you on this one, as you obviously really love the house, but you need to think with your head and not your heart.
I wish you all the best. x0

They should have told you this at your first viewing. Did they even tell the estate agent?
As others have said, 8 people put a complaint in writing. That says something.
If they are all complaining to the council, I'd guess he's a council tenant? You could ask the council what objections/complaints they have had, and what is their plan for dealing with it, but personally I'd complain strongly to the agent that the vendors witheld this information for so long, & then run.........0

Ask yourself this (or better still, ask the vendors): Why are they moving in the first place? Chances are, it's probably because of this man. Count your lucky stars you've only wasted a few hundred pounds, rather than the tens (or hundreds) of thousands you'll have wasted if you buy the house and are utterly miserable and unable to sell because you live next door to this man. Sorry to be so blunt, but I would be thankful you found out now, before it's too late. Good luck.0
