THanks for your help again,do you think i should include pics with the email,if i get no joy with this email i think i need to go higher up as i'm getting nowhere.

RE your question flyboy they were delivered on the 20th of Jan and first worn on the 21st and i emailed Halfcost on the 31st of Jan
Then they should have definitely lasted longer. That said, they could still have been rejected under the DSRs.

When I went to secondary school we had to arrive in outdoor lace up shoes which we had to remove in the cloakroom and put on sandals which were kept there. These 2 pairs of shoes seemed to last for ever and because everyone had the same type of shoes/sandals there was never any problem from other pupils, we all wore the same.

The same went for uniform, right down to the same colour knickers (which would be seen in PE, only shorts for outdoors) and colour of socks (both grey!)

    This too was in Coventry

  • This happened to me in ASDA. I had bought my daughter a pair of boots and they lasted for three weeks and took them back to the one in Wolverhampton and was told they were ''fashion boots'' and would not refund the money. She wasn't even wearing them every day or all of the time either. I called their head office and put in a complaint and the customer service team went well out of their way to resolve it and give me back the money. I'd never buy shoes from there again but was pleased with their service.

I really am dumbfounded that this sort of practice still goes on. It used be (back in the days of yore) if you went back to the shoe shop with faulty shoe, it would be, "ah, we would love to give you a refund, but seeing as you wore the shoes, we can't." But I would have thought that trading practices had evolved beyond that, obviously I was wrong. :(

I know what you're saying but this is why they get away with making and selling items that aren't fit for purpose, most people can't be bothered and right it off.

Can you do that for a worn item,i thought the DSR's only came into play if you didn't want the item etc?

    Dear ****

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

I have on this occasion arranged a collection for you; the courier will call to pick up the parcel within the next 7 days. Please ensure you complete the Goods Return Form found on the back of the invoice and follow the instructions carefully, a completed Goods Return Form would need to be enclosed within the parcel.

Please keep in mind that if you wish to order an additional pair of these shoes, then I'm afraid we would not be able to accept the replacement pair back for this reason.

    Regards

What nonsense. They are shoes, it doesn't matter what they call them. They are supposed to last more than six days. There are no warnings or waivers given by the advertisement and they are talking out of their backsides. That said, would you really want to order anything from them ever again?

I think that, once you have received your refund, you ought to drop a line to Trading Standards.
