I collected the coat from the deaf tailor and he did an AMAZING job, he put in elasticated belt loops, it's better than it was originally. Cost €8. I brought 2 other sewing jobs to the dressmaker too, a pair of jeans and a dress, both needing to be shortened. €8 for each of those as well. That's €24 for clothes repairs and as usual nothing much to show for the money spent.[/QUOTE]

That's great, it's like having 3 new items of clothing for EUR 24.00 - brilliant :j

I'm feeling really guilty about the obscene amount of money I spent at the hairdressers yesterday :o

I used to have really lovely long hair but over the last year or so I just couldn't afford the hairdresser visits so I made cutbacks by going for cheap dry cuts and colouring the (grey:()roots myself. Result-I started 2011 with horrible hair that was making me depressed.

I know I posted about the €60 haircut a while ago. This helped lots, made me look a bit more like I used to and a few weeks later still looks pretty good so I decided to go back to get the colour fixed.

There was a band of colour that was almost black in my brunette hair caused by home root touch up kits. Hi-lites or any other colour except black wouldn't cover this so the colour had to be stripped out or "cleansed" as they call this process in salons. ("cleansed" is such a misleading term- it sounds like it means shampoo)

Obviously this was going to be expensive and it's not a job I'd trust most places with so I decided to pay for it. The guy did a fantastic job, and my hair doesn't look as if it's been damaged in any way, although it must have been but I'll condition it loads for the next while.

So now I have a very even all over colour and not a grey root in sight :Tand I'll be able to get hi-lites for the summer in a while.

But I feel rather ashamed of what I paid for it :o It's not as if I can afford such things but I also can't wait until I'm debt free to get my hair done. My confidence (or lack of it a lot of the time) is so tied up in how I look and I like to look groomed. I'd get flamed for posting that on the debt free wannabee board probably but it's true. When I look better I feel better so I think the only thing to do is find €10 a week that I can put away for getting my hair done.

Tonight I'll mostly be doing Toluna surveys and some review writing because I need to reclaim some of the money spent :) Might even have to resort to ebaying a few things soon, have car tax and house insurance coming up. It's just constant financial pressure and I'm so tired of it.

It's Election Day here today but I'm not at all hopeful that the new government will do anything to make life easier for people.

Don't feel bad about the money spent on hair! I like to feel good too and have my nails done every 2 weeks at least - and have no intention of giving it up :)

Thanks, it's just that it was quite a bit more than a full head of hi-lites would cost which really is too much to be spending on hair :o It doesn't even look very different for the money spent :undecided

The price wasn't a shock or anything, I had asked in advance what it would cost.

What do you get done with your nails? French polish/acrylics??

Usually acrylics, sometimes with polish, or ocassionally gel, but I don't get on as well with gel!

Can you imagine if we posted on the debt free wanabee board....hairdressers and acrylic nails:rotfl:I'm always a little freaked out when people on there suggest a budget of 0 for anything to do with clothes and appearance. That's just not realistic. While I'm all for getting the best price possible (Boots glitch anyone:D) even clothes in a charity shop cost money.

Although I want to be debt free I know I have a long way to go and need to have a life whilst I get there :)

Strange - I always imagined you had blonde hair for some reason :)

I too agree it makes a hell of a difference to how you feel about everything else if your hair looks good. Don't feel guilty about spending the money - you are probably cutting back in other areas and it's not as if you aren't doing anything to earn extra money on the side as well.
