What are you walking down the aisle to?

My church wedding many years ago, and all church weddings I've been to have the bride first and the traditional thing of the BMs behind was that they are the maids of the bride, and look after her train etc (remember Princess Di!) But for our civil ceremony we've been told that BM goes first...saving the best to last! I wondered if it's since flower girls have become more popular...I don't remember people having them years ago, any young girl was a bridesmaid and that was it. Are flower girls something else we've adopted from across the pond? I've seen one wedding when there was a small flower girl sprinkling the flowers for the bride to walk on (so obviously she had to go in front of bride) with BMs bringing up the rear
I dont know why i wrote that actually because I have been calling them all bridesmaids really, ive got two little ones 4 & 10 and 2 friends my age and when ive been looking for dresses all the ones for the littler girls have been called flower girl dresses...0 -

we LOVE that song
im going down the ailse to an instrumental version of aerosmith dont wanna miss a thing, OH also wants it as our first dance so hopefully because its instrumental and then 1st dance will be the proper version people wont think they are hearing the same song over and over again... but even if they do, its special to us so... nerrrr! lol
actually, while im here.... in my head i was planning that the bridesmaids / flower girls etc go down the ailse before me, thats the normal way isnt it?
my friend today was surpised that i wasnt going first and it threw me a bit, i hadnt even considered it
Its the " American way " if the bridesmaids/flower girl walk down the aisle before you and your escort whoever that maybe (dad, partner, mum etc)
There is no law about how your bridal party has to process in. So pick an order that makes sense for you. If you want to send in all the bridesmaids and then walk down the aisle with your son, go for it. If you want your son to walk in with his grandmother and sit in the front pew, go for it. You can make whatever decision is best for your situation.
I want it done the "American way" so for me it will be Flower girl, MOH followed by my 3 other bridemaids in age order then myself (Bride) and my dadI like it this way because it will keep the suspence going and save the best person for last - ME

I'm walking down to a instrumental (strings) version of Elton John's Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
The Lion King was the first show me and OH saw together on our first weekend away together0 -
I walked down the aisle to Air on a G String (otherwise known to our older guests as the Hamlet cigar song lol). I also like Canon in D but I used that for the register signing so that the whole song could play as it's so beautiful. Whatever you do don't use a song with a long intro as you'll be down the aisle before it's really started.
To be honest, I was so hyped up on adrenaline at that point I didn't notice the music at all!
I did it the English way and walked down first. I didn't want a warm-up act - I wanted the first thing everyone saw to be ME!0 -
think i'm going to be going down the aisle to Canon in D .. really love that piece.
as for how the wedding party goes down the aisle any wedding i've been to recently (registry or church) the bride and escort always went last, thought it was so the bride got her spotlight without everyone looking to see who was coming behind her :rotfl:0 -
My sisters walked down the aisle to Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TGKJ9MgCOQ and Clarke's Prince of Denmark's March: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1088E6E2fY
I've always thought I'd like the Beatles' version of Til There Was You http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mf_4FAwFAe0&feature=fvst, Stand By Me by Ben E King http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbg7YoXiKn0 (those two because I remember my parents singing them round the house when I was little) or a song called I Giorni http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhuGfmoIv_M which I discovered randomly on Classic FM one afternoon many moons ago!
Oh, and when I was a bridesmaid, I went up the aisle after my sisters both times."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
It was my OH's 6-minute warning piece, the last piece of music played before my MoH & I came in, planned to let him know that I was there and he had 6 minutes to leg it!!!Curious_George wrote: »i love this! :T
It was at the suggestion of our registrar, he said he's found it helps his grooms to relax if they know the bride is there and ready to go so he always recommends a "warning" piece of music!0 -
Just thought i'd mention, we were not allowed Hallelujah (instrumental or not) due to its religious title (Civil ceremony)
I had walked in to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXdjDX33QSE2 angels in heaven :A0 -
I'm walking down the aisle to Smokey Robinson and "I second that emotion"
We're also leaving to Simon & Garfunkel "59th Bridge St Song" ... feeling groovyWhether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right ~ Henry Ford0
