Me too! I was quite miffed to be told that even though I didn't ask or want it! and I'm being inundated with emails from them

I'm sure the person who posted originally did so with the best intentions, but I certainly won't be shopping with Empire now.

  • There was an amount on mine too but no mention of 'your payment is due by....'
I just assumed - naively - that this was what the item was worth and thats why it was on there!

I had this with the £20 code back in May - still in a legal battle with them and office of fair trading! I kept all the emails and screenshot everything, I have the proof, and Empire are claiming its fake, they claimed I used a whole different code. You'll have fun, believe me, they're liars to thier back teeth.

Emails and calls didn't work for me, Fair Trading said they'd sort it... empire have taken my debt back from debt collection (funnier thing is, I wasn't even registered at being at the address I used, I was on the electoral roll in wales until the beginning of this month). I'm ready to send it all to watchdog or something, i'm getting desperate and stressed!

  • I just phoned. The CS lady was really helpful. Originally she offered to put the refund into my (unwanted) empire account, but when I said that I had no intention of ordering from Empire again she said it would take 10-12 days but I would get my money back. Hallelujah! After numerous phonecalls where I got cut off by an automaton I was relieved to talk to human being and have them sort it all out. Cerenia you poor thing - good luck with it all.

I used the code genuinely as I am an existing customer & was sent it by post, however I took a chance & used it against a sale item. The email said £0 but the paper bill was for the full amount, as the code can't be used against sale items they are quite within their rights so I'm not complaining.
