February work lunches challenge
Comments

Ok so in January I smashed my target bringing in 17 out of 18 lunches :T
So for February I'm going to go for 16 out of 20 lunches bought in from home
partly to give me a bit of lee way if I meet up with someone one day. Oh all my Wednesday lunches will be provided by work this month too so that won't be bought
.
Good luck everyone. Very uninspiring tin of tomato soup for me today but still not well so that'll probably be best.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Hey guys, I'm really getting into the swing of this now.
While totalling up my spending diary last night I noticed that I still spent £50 on food last month though  So I need to keep an eye on buying supplies for the office and how much I spend when I do go out for lunch.
I think seeing friends at the weekend is my weakness, so I'm going to count weekends in my challenge this month and see if I can reduce my spend.
So I shall pledge 24/28 days homemade lunch
Good luck everybody xx

I'm going to suggest something a bit more extreme - not for everyone but it works for me.
I basically fast from going to bed until getting home the next day. All I have during the day are cups of tea with a little bit of milk or water.
This works for me for a few reasons -
1) I have an easier time not eating at all than only eating a bit.
2) I really enjoy being able to have a big meal with all the trimmings and dessert in the evenings without worrying about gaining weight.
I actually started doing this for health reasons rather than money saving, but the money saving benefits are great too!0 -
I'm in!

Sickbean...there's no way I could manage that. I have skipped lunch at work a few times and survived on drinks but i'm not properly awake (or human) on a morning until i've had some breakfast even if its just scoffing a banana on my way out the door! If it works for you then go for it. When I first moved out of home I had no money for food and used to just do that (I would go to my parents for tea every night). I lost loads of weight, but I was constantly shattered!
Today i've got some leftover tomato pasta bake from our tea last night with half a yellow pepper left from another work lunch that was in the back of work's fridge. Ive also had the other yogurt I brought in the other day. Soup 2moro I think or beans on toast...I have bread at work but nothing to put on/in it and I know we've got soup and beans in teh cupboards at home. I can squish a tin in my bag no problems, no mess!0 -

One word for you - CAFFEINE!!!
Who needs food? Seriously though, it's definitely not a diet for everyone.
It's also probably worth stating that I can easily eat 6000 calories when I get home to make up for it!0 -
I am going to go for 4 bought lunches this month.
Sickbean, not sure how healthy fasting is, but if it works for you on both not buying lunches and losing weight - good luck!
With all the 'graze' snacking I do I can well believe that 6k calories is possible once getting home after not eating all day!
