Bought a new small TV for the bedroom last year, just wish I had paid more attention as to whether or not it had an on/off switch.

That bright blue light when it is on standby nearly drove me mad - I have to switch it off at the plug every night, which is a pain if you are watching something in bed late.

There are 2 reasons not to leave electrical appliances on standby
    1. Save electricity
    2. EMFs - electric magnetic frequencies are emitted by electrical appliances which to some can cause disturbed sleep but moreover certain people have better quality of life reducing EMF's and avoiding wireless equipment.

You might say this is not proven but then again wait until the next generation to observe the effect of mobile phones etc ;).........
  • tried mine today. i have to use indoor antenna to get channels otherwise nothing. i also noticed everytime i switch on the telly it makes a funny noise before picture appears. is this normal?

    haven't try the dvd yet.
i wish i have live my life a little bit off the book, took a chance and gamble

Theres an S socket on ours too.

Agree with Browntoa the remote sockets would be ideal although as I said earlier the power down sockets we have work a treat and means the remote from the telly operates them ;)

    Free ones here https://www.freegreengadgets.co.uk/web/guest;jsessionid=501F130BE855EAA3339B38D25F0FE774

Freebies no longer available. I too need something along these lines so will have a look around for the Asda ones.

I didn't have that exact problem with mine, but I had lots of problems and the first two times, Tesco were happy to replace the TV like for like, no problems at all - I just called up the number on the guarantee and they gave me a reference number to take instore to authorise the replacement. When the third set developed a fault, I decided against a replacement as it seemed like the TV was false economy, so rang the number again and they authorised a refund.

Rang the technical dept this morning. They can't exchange it as they are out of stock. he suggested that I choose another TV and pay the difference but I am not keen to do that. I suppose I will have to wait for a few weeks and see if there are any more offers, then exchange then. No reference number to authorise a replacement from instore. Any suggestions anyone?

should only be 'new tv smell' - should be gone after a week.

happens quite commonly...it's just first time use, plastics getting warmer etc.
