If it is for central heating you can get a cheaper rate of the suppliers0

Just been quoted £45.00 (inclusive of VAT and delivered - its easy enough for me to fit it) for 47.2kg propane gas bottle by ENERGAS in Grimsby. No tie in agreements or contracts or minimum usage. Just deliver when you want it. good old cash. That makes it 47p per litre (inclusive of VAT). About the fair market price at the moment. They did ask whether I was on a caravan or residential park site - whether it made any difference one way or the other, I dont know..... (can't be too hard to work out.)
Seems sb's comments on page 3 are very valid - reputable supplier.
If anything is different to that after they call tommorrow Dec 29th 2011, I'll let you know............
By the way, 47.2 kg propane holds 95.74 litres of liquefied gas, (or 21.06 gallons) if you want to do conversions from what info the gas supplier gives.
47.2 kg is the weight of the liquefied gas, 35.0 kg is the weight of the empty bottle, making a carrying weight of 82.20kg for the lorry. This is usually noted on the invoice/ delivery note.
Once again, I'll mention their name......... ENERGAS (Grimsby).........but looking at their website thay appear to be a nationwide outfit, so find your local one.0 -
I have no mains gas so use 47kg bottle for gas fire - costs 46.50 incldes vat. It heating oil that is more costly - to fill 1000 litre tank is £650.00 and i need to fill it 3 times a year - thats only heating as cooking and hot water is by electric - i live in rural west wales:j0

Although tax is an element in this, the big reason for the rise is worldwide demand for oil products.
Unfortunately, cheap energy is a thing of the past. We have no 'right' to expect cheap heating, electricity or road fuels.
I believe you have to be proactive and think ahead. One of those LPG boilers is being ripped out right now, and a heat pump is going in.
We have had a log boiler at our (large) home for over 2 years now, and only consume a tiny amount of heating oil, (our backup system).
In some of our other houses, I have installed immersion heaters to reduce oil and gas consumption.
Of course, nothing is foolproof, electricity prices will go up too, and so will wood. If you can make some elec yourself (panels, turbine, etc.) so much the better, and buying a small area of woodland may well prove a wise investment.
Unfortunately it seems many people would rather buy a new Xbox or a new car, than invest in future proofing themselves against energy poverty......0 -
Getting a refill 47kg propane delivered tomorrow - North Coast of Northern Ireland - £95. Just use it for the fire and the hob, so should last a while. Still, a bit steep to say the least ...0
