1 IN to declare - AVON kids shampoo. i am never sure whether there is an actual difference between kids and adults shampoo?

I think kids shampoos are "tear-free" ie it wont hurt their eyes if it goes in. Not that I've tested that, but can vouch that adult shampoo can be ouchy in eyes!!

this is what i thought but i know that when J&J gets in his eyes he cries so unless he's a wuss (more than poss. lol), the only difference i can think of is that there are less chemicals? which then makes you think - well what the hell am i washing MY hair with then?

  • I was also a Mallory Towers/St Clares fan and always wanted a midnight feast! Welshgirl, you have lived the dream :rotfl:!

I always wanted a midnight feast too! Closest I came was going on horse-riding holidays when I was about 12/13/14 - we always had a load of fun late into the night and invariably got in trouble several times for not behaving after lights-out! As for the books, I read practically anything as a kid, but the Enid Blytons were always favourites, as were anything pony-related - the Pullein-Thompson sisters I seem to recall wrote excellent pony books, in fact, I still have a few around I think!

One UU to report this morning - the Sanctuary Kyphi Body Butter - WIBA? - yes, I would. Smelt lovely, and was really effective, although I find Sanctuary products usually are. I have now gone onto using my Avon Rich Moisture Face Cream which I was using as a night cream, as a body cream instead, as it's been open rather a long time now and is a HUGE pot - how anyone would ever use it up within a reasonable time just on their face lord knows! The plan is, that in the few days it will take me to finish that, my shower gel will also have been UU'd, and I will then be able to go onto using BS Moringa shower gel & body butter together. I have taken an Avon Anew Reversalist night emulsion from the stash. It is a really pretty light sparkly cream in a quite posh pot, so looks very impressive on the dressing table! :D

Have you ever wondered what the Queen uses in her guest loos at the Palace?

One of the Ouchers! got her MBE this week and she reports back that it's Elemis hand wash and lotions.

Thanks Lemon Tree, never heard of it but it might be worth a ago, the itchiness really gets me down sometimes :(

    Hi Hazz

I also have a dry/itchy scalp due to my psoriasis. I used to suffer from flakiness too but not anymore. For the last year I have used Lush Retro Recon (a scalp reconditioiner, this can only be bought online). You massage into your scalp and leave it for around 15 minutes, I often leave it for much longer though and then I wash with a normal schampoo (at the moment I am using LE) several times since your hair gets really greasy from the Lush product During the last schampooing I also massage in Dead Sea's spa magik conditioning scalp mud from Debanhams. I only wash my hair once a week and I have found the Lush product and the scalp mud absolutely brilliant and I very rarely now use cortison in my scalp and the itchiness and the flakiness is gone.

Good luck in finding the right product for you and please let us how you are getting on.

Thanks Becky, I'll look into this too. At the moment I'm using herbal essences no flakin' away which is helping with the itching but scalp is still flaky. I guess you have to give things time to work their magic though.

    (snip)

:jThanks for this Valm - will be very tempted. I have loved everything from the one and only TSV I've bought (didn't even know what that meant before I joined this thread - you lot really are a bad influence :rotfl: ) Do you know if the frangipani shower gel will be in it?

I got the info from Shopping telly.com and they in turn got it from Kayley (Elemis guest on QVC). They mention some other travel items and a bag. Doesn't look like the Frangipani is in there though. I used this in my shower this morning with Soap & Glory Righteous Butter and they smelled good together.
One of the Ouchers! got her MBE this week and she reports back that it's Elemis hand wash and lotions.

Being nosey as to what this means? Is there was way of getting freebie Elemis?
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Roshy, I agree with everyone saying go to Australia and talking about regretting it if you don't.

Obviously not along the same lines but just before I met my husband I was thinking of selling up and moving back down to Cornwall, where I'm from, and starting my life over again down there. Then I met my husband and thought I need to decide between moving to Cornwall and him and I chose my husband. Well now I'm in a situation where he doesn't want to move down to Cornwall so I've lost my dream. What I should have done was tell him I was moving and if he really wanted to be with me he would have followed.

So I say go for it.

Hey Lyndseydee, i'm from Cornwall too! I'm desperate to move back too but my oh doesn't want to either :( Where are you from?

I think she is just informing us what is used in palace!

Morning all, had a nice shower this morning and the fructis conditioner is a-spluttering. I thought it would have gone weeks ago but typically it's waiting around!

I had my interview this morning, and it was in the back of beyond - about a 40min drive cross country. However, when I got 3 miles away from the offices, the road was cancelled for tarmacing  and the detour (which had signs missing all over the place!) they sent me on was 30 miles, and still not complete!! in the end I just went another way I knew but it took me nearly 2 hours to reach it - luckily I had left enough time. Soooo for anyone local, you can't get to Walkern from Stevenage today, it will be much quicker to go through Baldock :rotfl:
On the plus side I think it went rather well, I got on with the man interviewing me (only the one interviewer) and fingers crossed i get it although I know that they have interviewed a few already!

Have a good day ladies, I'm off for a catch up on the posts :) x
  • Thanks for all the hellos - feeling welcome, fuzzy and well moisturised. Am so glad it's not just me with the loo rolls. I think it is inherited - I told my mum about it and shre reassured me that she has always kept a stash of it too - hers is currently about 24 though, so I might build down the stash a bit.

2 UU for me (before I've finished the list) a sample of Olay energising face cream. WIBA? Possibly, it was very light and did a good job keeping my skin smooth. The other was a tube of Clarins Relaxing body lotion (the blue tube one) WIBA? Probably not. Quite clumpy, didn't absorb as well as stuff half the price and the smell can't decide it if it lavender or camomile and just stays at 'random floral'. Not really worth the price.

Onto the Molton Brown Coco De Mer body lotion, shampoo, conditioner, body and fash wash now! All open at once - PRCP rules!

I loved the Faraway Tree ones too!

I don't think I need to join the 'no buying books' thread, I'm pretty good with them, out of the 680 books I own, there's only 16 I haven't read, and most of them are different translations of Russian books and I don't want to read them too soon after reading other translations of the same books (yes, that's another one of my collecting habits - I own three different translations of War & Peace!).

Back OT, my Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream is finally spluttering, about time too, I've been using it since last June, I don't know where it all comes from, the tube is tiny!

I'm using that eye cream atm too (along with a couple of others) and it does last quite a long time :D

I love Enid Blyton books (have I said that before? lol). I still have them all at my mum's house! :):):)

    Hi everyone

I have a UU to report - BS Camomile eye make up remover lotion - WIBA - Yes definately as this is my HG of removers. I don't need any more at the mo as I have a few left in my stash :D - strange, I have tried this and am not that keen! Funny how different peeps love different things. :)

Does everyone here use a night cream? I have started to as I need to use up my stash and it might help :) Don't know if it has made any difference yet but will hopefully see after a month. - yes, always. I love the rich night creams and my day cream has to have SPF so I use separate products.

Tara - have never really had a problem with blackheads but do you use a face mask - I believe there are some that are good for BH's like clay and dead sea salt etc
Have you ever tried those nose strips - that is if you have them on your nose. :) Anyway good luck with that. - thanks for that, I do use a clay/clarifying mask every so often and I have used the nose strips before, so must dig them out too. They are on my nose and either side of my nose (yuuuk). Is there a Sanctuary mask that I can use the £5 voucher with?

Have managed to get 2 shifts this weekend - Yay - need the dosh.
So just won't have time to go out and spend :rotfl:- good for you!

Keep up the good work everyone :j

Sorry, had to do replies in pink :)

I keep finding little freebie sample tubes in different places, not "in's" as such but rediscovereds. Mostly the Olay 7mls.
I've just finished reading Kath Kelly's How I Lived a Year on Just a Pound a Day. She mentions freebies as a great source of toiletries. The book is wonderful, how annoying that it is out of print when the far inferior Not Buying It by Judith Levine is still going.

Kath used 29p a litre shampoo from Asda which lasted her pretty much the entire year once she had used up what she had at the start of the challenge. Soap was 3 bars for 19p and toothpaste 21p.

She mentions free haircuts from trainees; around here you do pay - not a lot, though. Several of the local colleges do hair cheaply. I've never been tempted, but perhaps one day.

    *feels faint* :rotfl:

Sounds like a book I should read! I am very frugal in most areas except: travelling (my #1 priority), toiletries (I am a bargainista but spend too much overall), clothes (ditto) and food (I will spend money on good food because it's important, I'm lucky to have enough money to buy good food - but even I will gasp at overpriced food, usually fruit!!!).

p.s. confession time! I popped into SpaceNK at lunchtime and got a couple of fab freebies :D Then I went to Molton Brown to spend my vouchers... got a Skinpure cleanser for 50p after the Times voucher and £10 gift card! I can't decide what to get with the others so will go back on Monday. The lovely SA didn't mind me using both in one transaction and was happy to put another set through for me. No free sample though, humph! (I@m never happy :rotfl: )
