welshgirl78 wrote: »Ah, all this Mallory Towers chat has inspired me to say HI! I was desperate to go to boarding school due to these books - and went! I loved it, we had midnight feasts and used to call them "Lecture on the Albatross" so our teachers didn't know what we were talking about... we were so naive!
I am in for the month... been pretty good but in a MSE way have signed up for a Boots trial over 4 weeks day and night cream + cleanser - they are lovely and moisturising, I am really enjoying using them although it doesn't help the stash is freeeeee - well actually they pay me as I have to go in and have my skin monitored... not allowed to say too much but think that is ok!!!
They also do product trials where you can go in and order stuff to try so have a dry shampoo arriving soon - not something I have stashed so I feel no guilt!
Hope you are all well, have been reading on and off but am def still inspired! GL with the UU
LOL at your story, how creative of you! :rotfl:
p.s. how do you get accepted for these trials? :whistle:Evening ladies.
I'm struggling with the Pink Rose Candle Philosophy.....or rather the flip side of it, as in that life's too short to use stuff you hate...................except when your an MSE'r, then that throws the old waste not want not thing into the mix
Where's this leading?
Well I'm sitting in bed smelling like one of these http://andrea2007.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/large_solero.jpg
all because there was an abandoned bottle of BS Mango Whip Body Lotion on the bathroom windowledge (abandoned because the pump action wouldn't dispense the last inch out), and I felt duty-bound to use it tonight because I wanted to get rid of it and I can't bear waste.
There is still some of the hateful satsuma body polish staring at me reprovingly and a bottle of something bizarrely called On a High Hydrating Puree(BS) which I don't really like the smell of either and was abandoned whilst still half full.
As most of you know, these are not my products, they are my DD's. She doesn't have a massive stash, she just keeps moving onto the next product!
What I really want to do is just chuck her unwanted stuff. She would happily chuck it, it's just me that hates waste. I don't want all these bottles lying round the house and I want to be using my own nice things and not lying here smelling like an ice lolly
Moan over. Thank you for listening!!
Chuck it.I hate that satsuma stuff and the strawberry as well, they make me want to vomit (sorry, fruit smell fans!).
If she bought it with her money, it's her waste. Don't make yourself irritated by using products that you hate. :Tmcculloch29 wrote: »Oh Bronnie... how ironic that the person who put up the Solero pic was Andrea; it wasn't me, honest.
Body lotion makes very good leather food/cleaner.
Would the body polish clean something? It's not a product I use.
My take on this is that if it makes you feel yerch using it then it flies in the face of PRCP and is deeply counter-productive to the whole point of using toiletries. They make us feel good, smell good, look good. Let's face it, a bar of cheap soap and a jar of Vaseline would cleanse and moisturise us. But (Kath Kelly on her £1 a day excepted) very few of us would do that.
We want and indeed, need to use products that make us feel good.
You would send back a meal that tasted vile, or complain to the manufacturers if it was cooked at home.
If the product is poor, fire off an email.
You would never knowingly eat food that had decayed, so do feel justified in binning toiletries!

Roshy, I agree with everyone saying go to Australia and talking about regretting it if you don't.
Obviously not along the same lines but just before I met my husband I was thinking of selling up and moving back down to Cornwall, where I'm from, and starting my life over again down there. Then I met my husband and thought I need to decide between moving to Cornwall and him and I chose my husband. Well now I'm in a situation where he doesn't want to move down to Cornwall so I've lost my dream. What I should have done was tell him I was moving and if he really wanted to be with me he would have followed.
So I say go for it.
That made me feel really sad for you lynsey, I really hope you do get to move to Cornwall someday. Why does he not want to move there?
I feel the same sometimes, I had lots of plans before meeting OH and I'm not sure what happened to some of them! OTOH, we have done lots of great things together and he loves travelling, so I am lucky I guess.I use those strips for blackheads, they work quite well. I quite like Superdrugs own Tea tree version, cheap and cheeful.
Thanks, must try those! I have a 25% off voucher as well. :T I love peeling them off and seeing all the little sticky-up bits. Are they the blackheads? If so, why does my nose not look any/much better????

First IN of the month - but I did get it with a Boots £5 off skincare voucher. Cheapest thing I could find - Sanctuary cleanser. Only cost me £2.00.0
-
I forgot, I went to Boots this morning and printed off LOTS of ACM vouchers for 1/3 off shampoo, dental and deodorants and £2 off mascara/lipstick. So I went a bit mad.
Got 2 Radox shower gels, 2 Natural Collection mascaras, 1 NC lippy and 4 Dove deos for about £1.80 and paid in points! I don't know whether I feel ashamed or thrilled. :rotfl:
The SA watching over the SS tills was giving me daggers lol!!!!

I'll def be getting more bubble bars and bombs whenever I get a chance, I do love them. I really like the idea of a nice bowl, full of pretty lush bath stuff, sitting out in my bathroom, looking good, and making the bathroom always smell (of) lush
Ooh what a lovely idea! Mind if I steal it - When I run out of everything I already have of course!minerva_windsong wrote: »Found a small bottle of Body Shop coconut shower gel in my overnight bag earlier, so my stash has gone up slightly. Does that technically count as an IN, seeing as I already had it?
No, no, definitely not!
Went to my friend's rescue cattery today so had to get changed and have a hedonistic afternoon bath today (so don't bring any lurgies home).....lurverly. Champneys collection is spluttering....gonna miss it....regretting not topping that part of my stash up in the sales..:(..my bf had just inducted me into S&G so I opted for that instead.
Agonising over the £5 BS paper voucher tomorrow...I really can't justify it....
Loved the orange lolly picture - I'm a fruity gal so would have enjoyed using up that product! Shame we can't set up a swapsie night - how much fun would THAT BE!! :TLess stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
A ball! Wow, rosemary, you do have the time of it, I am so jealous! How do you get to go to so many balls? xoxo
just had an email from Abel and Cole who sell fruit and veg boxes plus other stuff, any one used them?I don't want to be stuck with having a box every week but do like to get boxes and was fed up when tesco stopped selling them (OK nothing to do with beauty but neither was Mallory towers!!!....more of a famous 5 secret 7 girl myself:))
fingers crossed DH is ok for ball and meal he won't let me cook chicken for a while so running out of ideas for food....maybe not the right time to start shopping with a new food firm! The boxes looked good and they had meat and fish at ok prices but some of the other organic stuff looked expensive.0 -
Two INS for me:
Simple face wash: Soon be time ot use my HG again, I love this stuff.
Simple moisturiser: My skin gets dry quite quickly, and I loved the trial one, so here we go (well when the hated Boots one is used up!)
One UU:
Impulse Pure Love: WIBA? I might, if I was going to go out.....but it's not really me....a bit young but the shower gel smells good.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.

hurrah
finally a UU
a M&S foam bath
nice bubbles and lasts a long time
don't need to use much to get good bubbles
no smell really
WBA? nah can get stuff that's just as good but cheaper elsewhere0 -
Took my Tesco Clubcard vouchers and my £12 off an £80 spend voucher with me today and struck lucky. Dove Body Butter for Extra Dry Skin had a third off, so in that went. My HG deodorant, Mitchum, was 2 for £3.00, one for son, one for me.
Finally Elvive shampoo and conditioner 250ml was 2 for £3.00.
I won't need shampoo this year but I'm getting low on my HG conditioner, so 2 conditioners went in. Normally I buy the 400 ml bottle that costs around £2.99 so that was a saving, 100 ml more.
Interestingly, there were plenty of bottles of Elvive left on the shelves, but only a few of the 2 I bought, the conditioner for weak, lifeless hair. Clearly others rate it highly too.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
