When I decided to give up on LE, I started using Essential Care rose toner, it's really good. I'd only get it if you like the smell of roses though!

Thanks pinkfluffybabe. I love the smell of roses aswell and generally find it very soothing on the skin - will go and look it up!

nobody can be jealous of my office desk stash - Palmers Cocoa butter hand cream and a vanilla lip balm.

But there is someone at work who arrives at work by 9.30 full made up, goes straight to the ladies and touches up her make up and stinks the toilets out with perfume, then does this every time she goes back to the loos (3-4) and then goes home just after 2 ish. I want to know what they're doing with her in that office that she keeps needing to top up her make up.
It could be that she is a member of this board though and trying to use up a huge stock of make up!
I laughed at this and thought ooh is that me? But I don't use perfume at work - it sets the fire alarms off!

Hi, yes have tried the Clinique toner (remember it being purple coloured) and it was too astringent for me.
Oooh no I didn't mean or say the Clinique - they are like ahhh on the skin. No I mean Clarins? They do a couple of versions - I use quite a moisturising one called the Comfort one - it was a thicker consistency but its really gentle.
Clinique yuck yuck yuck, too harsh for me

march She has a coupon for a Clarins makeover in March with free vital light cream worth £34,you get a mini facial and make up ,I had it last year and it was quite good:) so think will do it again after my holiday
Hope things get clearer for you R54, so frustrating.
Thanks for the tip about She - I always look at those and never end up booking them so I should make the effort. I take it its somewhere like Debenhams you book?

sofababe - asos, avon and salon skincare take paypal if that's any help!

I think I might have to throw away a foundation, a customer at work asked me if I was ill today as I looked so pale! Perhaps I should try mixing with a darker foundation. Although it does make my skin REALLY greasy after a while. I just don't want to throw it as it cost me £8! Maybe I should use some pinkier blusher?

Bin - as you said to me about some of my make up bits. Its really hard to make a too pale a foundation work without overdoing it in other departments - eg too heavy blusher for me = clown/ aunt sally.

  • thanks for the thought everyone - it must be a sign, I work in a village near our town and popped out to send off my ebayed goods at lunch and bumped into a really good friend of mine who went to Oz last year and came back for a couple of months before heading back out! Very weird! And just got a call about another job interview so positive thinking encourages positive actions! If I was lucky I could take the job (fingers crossed) until after Glasto and save some money!

If I head over of course you're all more than welcome to pop over, where else can you use up those suncreams lurking in the corners of our homes ;) the only downside I can think of is trying to tear myself away from the surfers on the beach :rotfl:

Sorry to hear that the job was a no-go Roshy. not right for you, clearly! As for the Aus thing, I'm afraid I'm going to go along with everyone else and say GO!! Definitely after Glasto though - that way you can squeeze two things you have always dreamed of doing into one year. :D

I've been thinking for a while, my parents have said that they are willing to take on my car payments (at the moment they have the one car, but have been looking at getting a second) if I wanted to move abroad for a bit or go travelling. I'm tempted to go out to my cousins in Australia who have been on at me since I was 16 to get over there (they are early 30s and stayed with us twice for a year when they were in their 20s) - I have minimal ties at the moment, they keep telling me there is a surplus of jobs out there, and not to sound totally heartless as I know people who have been caught up in it - I am a construction consultant and cost engineer and they are facing a massive rebuilding project. Everything points to it making sense to move out there but I'm just reluctant to pass my debt (car) onto someone else, even though they are wanting me to! Maybe this is the move I'm to make!!!

I think I'll be beating Switzerland as the longest commute to the thread :rotfl:

I do want to go but something is holding me back and I'm not sure what, I've never been able to put my finger on it!! Obviously I'll have to wait until after Glasto to go :rotfl: but I might get everything in order now and just save save save. The car was brand new so I could sell it back to the dealership I would lose a lot of money on it IYSWIM I would get more money for it if it was sold after the 3 years. I know they have been looking for a car for a couple of months so it's not as if they are doing it primarily as a favour to me (even though I know they are, but we both would get what we want) and I would buy it off them when I get back and get back in to employment. They have been telling me to do it for years so nows my chance, it seems everything has just come up all of a sudden - it's like I've been expecting it but not quite this soon!! I always said I would go when I graduated which was in December, I've got a chance to go from my redundancy, my cousins are offering me a place and say there are jobs for me there, and family friends have moved out there in the past year too. I guess its just the grown-upness of it that is getting me - I've never done anything this 'big' before. Sorry for the rambling I'm still trying to get my head around it :o . Now the thing that is holding me up is whether to go to Glasto (first time but i've been dying to go for years) or go beforehand...?

I guess in my mind I could talk a good tale, and would convince everything else to go - I just need to start listening to my own advice :o . I think the house fund has now been relegated and a travel fund in it's place!

THANKS again girls for putting up with me trying to clear my mind!!! You should all start charging me!! :rotfl: x

I'd say go as well, what an amazing opp, and the timing is pretty good - having the redundancy gives you such a cushion to do something like this that you may never have again, and if there is work out there, and an offer of somewhere to stay and help you get settled, that sounds pretty good to me :)

No harm in waiting til after Glasto if you want to go - it's only a few months off, and if you've got a little bit of time still left at work, and shifts in a bar, the time might be nice to help you really plan where you want to go, sort out visas etc, start investigating the best consturction companies, tailor CV etc, and of course work out a budget and save up a bit more!

You can pay us in toiletries from your stash when you are packing to go to Oz - no waaaaay you can take that lot with you!! :j
I say just DO IT! (But we will support you if you don't.) I went when I was about 25 -I had saved up some money and it was either put a deposit on a flat or go travelling - yep you guessed, off I went - best year of my life. Although I preferred NZ to Oz (too many creepy crawlies!) LOL and the men were cuter :rotfl:oh sorry, bit OT here....

I'll agree with both of those, paying us in toiletries and the hot men in NZ :D I've never been to Oz, just NZ, but my little sister went, and a few friends - I've never heard of a single person who didn't love it.

I'm jealous, though the skiing is probably better in Switzerland :p

It's gone mineallmine, bought a L'oreal matte morphose (sp) to replace. You're right about trying to make a too pale foundation work! Have also chucked a Natural Collection one too - rubbish! I didn't realise what colour foundation I should use until I had a Benefit makeover at Christmas and I didn't want to pay over £20 for one of those! Erm, also got a new mascara and pressed powder today too and erm, some nail polish, shampoo, conditioner and hair mask  I'm an idiot really, I don't need it! But does anyone know if I should use pressed powder with a sponge or a brush? I did have a £15 Boots voucher though!

Am off to ebay some Claire Accessories, Body Shop and S&G Girligo carp :)

Roshy, sounds like afab opportunity, and what perfect timing! I'd love to go! Hope you are able to come to a decision that suits you. And I'm very jealous!

If I'm at home, I use a Kabuki brush, or a big bronzer brush with my pressed powder, just seems to give a better finish. If I'm out and about, then the pad/sponge that came with it is fine.
