No Buying Toiletries in February Challenge

Shopping in my stash is great, when I started trying to use things up I was doing that all the time, I've not got that much left now to do it from though.
OH found a Lush massage bar I'd bought years ago in his bedside table yesterday unused and certainly passed it's best - in the bin along with a little bottle of Origins calming something or other - I very rarely yet persuaded to buy things from people on cosmetic counters but this was one of those times and it's not been used and has gone all manky.
But no UUs for me recently.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Hello everyone.
Well I'm too old for clubbing so it's a saturday night in for me.
Loving the comment about Lush stuff having to come to the front of the queue because of it's use by date - I do this!
Had a really weird lightbulb moment today. I really wanted to treat myself to something. Then I worked out that - using my current theory of using things in order - whatever I bought, I would not actually get to use for a year or something!! Aaargh. So now that is my incentive to stop hoarding - so that when I buy nice new stuff I can use it next in line....we'll see if that works (of course Lush is excluded) :rotfl:
Managed to resist the MB offer today - I browsed the shop friday and there was nothing I need and I am pretty low budget in most of my toiletries stash (unless it's on offer of course)!! :T I'm not sure about next weekends forecast BS £5 voucher though - will have to weigh up the price of the paper/s vs the offer....all being very sensible now (bank balance heading sharply South this month...)
Also a huge thank you to whoever on here said to use shower gel as bubble bath - I have loads of old shower gel that has now become bubble bath and it was lovely and bubbly - so I have now started using my lovely new LUSH soap in the bath instead, with a nice puff.:) Hee hee am still laughing over the bits in someones puff....how old am I.....:rotfl::rotfl:Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -

Good evening ladies
I has uu's (notice the plural, get me!!)
1, shaving foam, a 50 ml one for men that my son never got round to using
2, avon curly gel stuff, wiba yes my hair loves this stuff, really lovely crinkly curls, but am on a mission to uu all other stuff first, so not yet.
3, sainsbury pomegranite and fig bath essence, wiba, yes yes yes!! smells gorgeous, and a little goes a long way, but again, not yet. At almost 40 years of age, I just discovered I cant spell pomegranite0 -
Hi
Count me in again for February. I put away £2 for every UU in January (I would usually spend the money on buying more anyway!) and managed to save £10. Not much considering how much stuff i still have to use but if I manage this every month then it will be £120 saved by Christmas. I have loads of body lotion, shower gel, face cream etc. Will have to buy toothpaste, razors and shampoo but i will be looking out for good deals.
I have a FCUK body lotion that is close to finish at the moment so another £2 in the pot (although this was in the free gift with £4 spend at boots, i will still put the money away).
Thanks to everyone on here because reading your posts really gave me the incentive to join this thread last month and start using up all of my stuff. I still look for bargains but tend to think back to this challenge and stop myself from spending more money.0 -
Can anyone tell me how to do a signature at the bottom of my posts so I can keep my UU saving up to date?0

welcome aboard newbies!
I was browsing the BS site earlier on with a view to the Telegraph vouchers next weekend. As I mentioned before my OH is a Telegraph subscriber so I will get these vouchers without any spend at all which removes some of the deliberation from the proceedings! Assuming that my store has the mini sizes in, I will probably look at a combination of mini shower gel, mini seaweed wash off cleanser, possibly the mini Rainforest conditioners (I have quite a few mini shampoos but am short on conditioners) and perhaps a soap to make up the spend if needed. I find that when we're camping, I'm fine with "roughing it" generally, but having some really nice toiletries to use makes such a difference to showering in slightly grotty surroundings, so minis will get used. The other thing I was wondering was whether it was possible to use these vouchers for purchasing a Love Your Body card? If so that would seem like a sensible use for one of them! I am considering the Love Your Body card in any case - the Telegraph vouchers seem to be coming up several times a year now, and as I usually buy a full sized shower gel and pay the extra £1 I'd even be reducing my spend when doing this by having a card. What do other people think of the scheme?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
