No Buying Toiletries in February Challenge

Hi Sawan, welcome to the board! I have to be honest, I'm not actually putting any money away against the UUs - maybe I should, but it's a tight month for me, so I'm just staying home and pampering myself!
Two more UUs for me overnight (I have so many half-used sample sizes it's obscene). I used up the Clinique All About Eyes on my legs. I checked it and it was basically a thicker version of the Moisture Surge stuff that brough me out in spots after three days, so I used it for general stuff. WIBA? Probably not, it's expensive to rub on my knees.
The other was the Yon Ka tube of cream - turned out to be a gel face mask. You smear it on, and it goes tight and sticky for a bit. Ten minutes later, you give it a scrub off, and your skin is lovely and smooth. WIBA? Quite possibly, if I could remember where I got it or how much it cost!
Also, some Outs - the cucumber and orange eye pads were slightly older than I thought. All had dried out, so no use at all. In the bin with them!
I am obviously obsessing over this challenge. I've gone through the stash and picked out the next four items to use up already. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
LB moment - March 2006. DFD - 1 June 2012!!! DEBT FREE!

Well, thank you all for the really warm welcome. I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to get started though tbh!
I did have a UU (is that right?) yesterday; a Lush Honey Bee Ballistic (and crumbled a little bit of bubble bar into it) and it was lovely. WIBA - I think so. But only once I've compared it to the rest of my 'stock'!
I also did the decent thing, and gave my two remaining skinnies to my sister to either use herself, or give to someone where she works, as they have a Boots round the corner.
Hope I've got the right jist of things! I wanted to ask that when you have savings in your sig, have you worked out what it would have cost if you had bought something? Or is it something else? I find that part fairly confusing
And a few names are very familiarFear not, your secrets are safe with me, I will name no names... :A
Welcome Sawan82, I'm new to this too, I don't put any money in savings when I use something up, it just helps me know what i really like and need to buy. Stops me spending unnecessarily on things that are cheap but which I don't really need or like that much. The devil makes works for idle hands0 -

je suis desole, (the ecoute's won't come out!) mais j'apprends toujours la langue. Vous fait parle l'anglais ou pourriez-vous parler s'il vous plaît legèrement plus lente? (not sure about my tenses there - i'm slightly rusty!)
It just says that I am sorry i am still learning the language, do you speak any english or can you please speak slightly slower so I can followI knonw that you are immersed in the country now and I'm not sure if you do this, but from experience if you make the effort to say that in the language, the locals are always more forgiving as you are making the effort and they know that you are still on the learning curve!
Sorry again if you already do but it might help someone elseI can't find fixx's original post, but the following might be slightly more correct (but not bad, Roshy! :T):
"Pardon, mais je ne parle pas courrament le francais. Pouririez-vous/ Veuillez (vahy-ay) parler un peu plus lentement pour que je puisse mieux comprendre, ou si votre anglais est mieux que mon francais, discutons-nous en anglais...*"
"Sorry, but if I don't speak fluent French. Could you please speak a little slower so that I can understand better, or if your English is better than my French, let's talk in English..."
* Say this last bit with a twinkle in the eye, and chances are that they other person will be more than happy to go a little slower!
Ladies, apologies for disappearing, and thanks for the French suggestions! I'm slowly getting better, and can have reasonable conversations most of the time, but it requires effort, and I felt guilty being in the body shop in the first place, so was a good excuse to leg it
New phrases now memorized now though! Will be very useful in future. :T
roshydoshy wrote: »thanks for the correction, its been a while (sadly) since I have spoke any French and it's scary how fast you lose it. I used to be between intermediate and advanced in the language and now I think i'd struggle to say I'm intermediate. Think I need to be immersed in the country for a couple of weeks to get me back up to standard
2 weeks!? Try 2 months and not being quite up to speed (used to be about intermediate I think).Though I am constantly surrounded by English people at work, so that's my excuse
Right, up to catch up with this thread!
(and maybe make a few confessions)

Hi newbies. Join up, you'll love it here. Just stay away from Tara, she's a bad influence. I'm an :A and never buy anything (Don't tell them, you lot! I can hear you all sniggering from the naughty step/ escalator!).
Psssst, Tara..... here's my wallpaper http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=10928206&fh_view_size=150&fh_sort_order=1&fh_sort_by=_price_rrp_min&fh_location=%2f%2fcatal!!!1%2fen_GB&fh_search=arthouse&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&isSearch=true ooh, long linky, sorry. Right, I'll continue to catch up.
Oh Rosemary, you didn't get the Olay because I emailed them and told them you had too much stuff:rotfl:. *Kidding*. Maybe it's on it's way?

<Ahem>cough, defintely not me...
I have decided I'm unsafe to leave the office this lunchtime as it's last day of £5 Boots skincare vouchers - nothing i need so will move them closer to the bin...
I had to leave LUSH in Brighton once as it made me so ill. I had a massive allergic reaction and was ill for the rest of the day - I can go in the shopping centre ones as long as they are open fronted though - who said they live near the factory - OMG!!
Welcome to the Buttercup baby! :T
Under the PRCP I have now pulled out all my S&G stuff and it looks lovely all around the bath. Had to force the BF to UU the horrid SD green scrub as it just didn't match.
However, first time using some of the products and actually found the combination of all of them a bit sickly!! The body scrub especially! Hope I'm not sick of it all as I've got LOADS in my stash :eek:Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
:jhi newbies, to be honest money is a little tight at the moment so i just have my last bought date on my sig. i keep a seperate note of products used up so i can see how well i am doing and also so i can figure out in future how long it takes me to use certain products(counting down to the next buying day lol:rotfl:)i also keep a spending diary as part of the grocery challenge but my main incentive is seeing the last line in my signature going down!!
my friends and i are thinking of getting each other easter pressies-not cheating if buying for each other is it? lol
lol to the people who have had children and cant get out for shopping:cool:
re the alarm thing outside shops.i can understand why they have it but for some reason it never effected me-my friends would complain about the sound and i would be like what sound i cant hear anything!!
as someone who has tried the blushers from pennys/primark they are quite good for the price-have u also tried elf? the studo line is quite good and is about 3.50 an item.
thats all for now :P just counting down the days till aprils issue of glamour comes out(just wanting 5 )
£365 a year spend challenge - this has included food/clothes/beauty?? who knows where I am
20,000 step a day challenge0 -
:rotfl:
If I have more than years supply of something - then I really don't need to buy any at all now, no matter how bargainous it is.
A spare of my HGs bought at a good price is one thing, but I don't like having a big stash of things to use up. I find it a burden and hate the clutter. It breaks my heart if something goes off.
OMG this is just soooo spot on. Think I may have to print this out and carry in my purse (if I can squeeze it in between my Boots and Love Your Body Cards! :T)I'm not convinced that its a teenage thing, I think its a Superdrug thing. I have this problem with them and I'm 40. As much as I'd like to think I could pass for a teenager :rotfl: Whenever I'm in my local SD the SAs are constantly watching me in a suspicious manner. Its not me being paranoid either, I don't feel this way in any other shop, ever. I was looking at the make-up last week, needed a new powder and was just browsing the different brands, as u do and no less than 4 different SAs asked me if I needed any help. No thank you. I said, I'm just having a think if that's alright. Apparently that wasn't alright as I got the same routine again in the body butter area, and again in hair dye. Now I admit to wearing a parka with several pockets but that surely doesn't make me a shoplifter does it? I'm shopping less and less in SD and more often in our minuscule Boots where the SAs are somewhat haughty, but don't follow u around the shop waiting to pounce
I get this in Boots too - they literally follow me round the shop - really puts me off my hoarding! BS I never get any hassle.I know what you mean about the glitches, if i try them I'm almost hyperventilating at the till.
Loved this! I get sweaty palms sometimes reading the grabbit board....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: ....then palpitations if I'm making an online order on a special offer.......this shopping addiction has definitely now gone too far!! Going to update my signature - have decided to include everyting including things for present drawer as this challenge for me is about not hoarding.:(
Rosemary - your holiday sounds fab, am soooo jealous! Well done on walking paaast the Body Shop too! :TLess stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Lol at julie and the glitches. Someone not a million miles from here (not me guv, honest
) ordered 20 boxes of Thorntons at Christmas cause they were really cheap
I, oops, I mean "they" lurve Throntons
Gotta get off my arris and take the kids out. I'm still in my jammies as I decided to paint in my jammies rather than get ANOTHER top covered in paint. (Don't worry, it's all washed out but I don't have a full load needing washing so would be wasteful to stick the machine on for a half load and the paint would stain if not washed straight off). Bathroom looks really awful this morning, patchy as heck but it's still too wet to do anything. I also have a moth stuck to the wall
Oh well, off to put some hand and foot cream on. Laters peeps
Sorry, keep meaning to say, my stash is in the drawer underneath DH's side of the bed. Apart from a bar of soap in everyones undies drawer cause it smells nice and the in use stuff in the bathroom cupboard.
Oh and the loo roll, DH went shopping and bought about 1000 rolls from Asda the other week. It's horrible. I usually buy the 9 rolls for £2 from Farmfoods. By far the cheapest and best. Never mind. That may last the month of March.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
