Yes, some young teens can be a pain but SD need to find ways of engaging with those that aren't. And the ones that aren't are still, robustly, the majority, despite what some sectors of the tabloid press would have you believe.
I'm almost certain that no other nation demonises its young people the way that we do.
I know, it'as horrible isn't it? My daughter and her friends are all lovely girls who all know their way around a make up stand and treat it with respect - but it seems to be Superdrug policy to treat them like criminals just for doing what the testers are there for, testing.
They'll go again on Saturday. If it's the same old same old, then the next time it won't be just a few people we know, and a five minute thing. we'll publicise it and try and make a proper day of it!
As it is the girls go in in pairs, not the whole group, and they leave their coats and bags outside with the rest of the group. They even get a bliddy basket sometimes...! They do their best to allay the staff's fears.I can't warm to Superdrug, dont know what it is about the place, so unless i'm going to get something thats really cheap, I tend to avoid it like the plague....
I know. It has a really unfriendly atmosphere doesn't it? And since we have four in our immediate area and since they're all equally hostile, I can only imagine that it's a top down policy.I'm not convinced that its a teenage thing, I think its a Superdrug thing. I have this problem with them and I'm 40. As much as I'd like to think I could pass for a teenager :rotfl: Whenever I'm in my local SD the SAs are constantly watching me in a suspicious manner. Its not me being paranoid either, I don't feel this way in any other shop, ever. I was looking at the make-up last week, needed a new powder and was just browsing the different brands, as u do and no less than 4 different SAs asked me if I needed any help. No thank you. I said, I'm just having a think if that's alright. Apparently that wasn't alright as I got the same routine again in the body butter area, and again in hair dye. Now I admit to wearing a parka with several pockets but that surely doesn't make me a shoplifter does it? I'm shopping less and less in SD and more often in our minuscule Boots where the SAs are somewhat haughty, but don't follow u around the shop waiting to pounce
My daughter and her friends will be glad to know they're not the only ones, but it's just not on is it? I've said to my daughter "Why give them your money?" but there are some bargain brands marketed at teenagers in all their magazines that are only available there.LadyGooGoo wrote: »Jacks xxx you totally rock! :T:T:T
Thank you hon.If anybody ever asks where I am, hubby's standard response is "Kicking @$$ and taking names somewhere I shouldn't wonder." :rotfl:I'm always got something on the go!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Well done Jacks on taking a stand.
I feel the same way.
Totally agree and is highlighted in the use of mosquitoes’ that are put outside shopping areas to stop young people congregating there. It outputs a high pitched noise which only under 20 year olds can hear!!! Outrageous and noise torture!! Talk about discrimination solely based on age. This would not be tolerated if it was any other group in society – people would be up in arms about a breach of human rights!!
*steps off the soapbox*
I know,
Those things are actually evil aren't they? I know some teenagers are rotten - but so are some adults! Since when do we treat a whole group as if they're "bad" just because some of them have been?Yorkielass wrote: »If people are looking at places to donate this scheme called Give and Makeup looks good - and if you send it off by the end of the month it's free post - ideal if you don't know where to donate to locally.

I can't vouch for it in any way but if you have lots of things you're looking to rehome in this way it might be worth investigating so thought it was worth sharing.
Bliddy brilliant idea. I'm going there next! :T:T:T
Sorry for snipping ladies. Just trying to make this post more manageable!
Hope you're having a fab day! Thanks ever so much for being such a supportive bunch. :ANot everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
Going back to page 69 I use the Primark Mascara and under-eye concealer and I think they are great :j I have a massive bag of Benefit stuff due to a WIN
which I must admit I do like very much but the Primark makeup is really good. I managed to get the mascara reduced to 50p its not very big but I find mascara tends to dry out fast anyway. It great cause it has a correction gel at the end to wipe up any smudges and it really does work:) Off to Primark at the weekend and might see what else they have cause I'm running out of mascara..

Just a note about the teenagers thing, i used to work evenings in a betting shop in a little parade of shops and we used to get a gang of kids outside (about 9-mid 20's) there were loads of them and one night there was about 25 of them, there was just myself and another girl working and they were opening the door and throwing things inside, one was a firework, they were all drinking and shouting. We phoned the police and put our shutters down so no customers could come in either, the police didn't arrive before we left and we had to open the shutters and go out the front door and they were throwing open but full cans of beer at us. All this was for no reason, we hadn't done anything to them and in no way antagonised them, we tried to ignore it thinking they would go away. After that a male member of staff had to be on duty in the evenings too, it was scary enough waiting to get robbed without all that too. This wasn't even in a rough area. I left after that.
I know we can't tar them all with the same brush but you can see why they get a bad name.
I understand it my lovely, because I understand people, but as you say it's not logical to tar all teenagers with the same brush because of something a few did, once.
I think we are a bit programmed to think that way by the media.
I was nervous the other day. I'd bought too much in Lidl because of the bargains (Mmm Bargains!:D) and I was stuggling to get it all home. As I turned the corner a group of young men in hoodies were coming towards me and I thought "Oh !!!!!!". I did. But they were lovely. They separated to let me pass, they asked me if I needs a hand and said "My Mum always goes mad at the special offers too". I felt really silly.
At the womens refuge I help out at some of the kids have to have therapy because they've seen one man wallop their Mum so they are scared of all men. But most men don't beat up women do they? Hence the therapy.
It's the same with teenager. It's crazy to act as if they're all criminals when only a very small % are.
I get that some teenagers steal from shops, but in Superdrug they shout at my non-thieving daughter for touching the display, and loom over her standing too close and look at her with angry faces as if she is scum.
Some old ladies steal, we've had one in the local paper recently, do you think they do the same to old ladies? I bet they don't.
That's how I see it chick, anyway. Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -

That's awful...what a horrible situation to have to endure!
Jacks...I hope your daughter and all the other girls get big, fat apology letters. I hope they mentioned in their letters that they were so disgusted by the treatment they received in their local Superdrug that they were seriously considering never going back, despite having been previously loyal customers.
If you don't hear anything in a fortnight, ring Head Office and ask did they receive the letters of complaint, just to check that the girls on duty didn't hide them or anything. Please call me 'Pickle'

Late to reply as usual, but got to agree with the comments about not liking Superdrug. The one near me is massive and has quite a good range of stuff, but as daft as it sounds there's always a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere. Plus I've never been in one that had nice assistants (but then I find Boots to be similar) - they're never very smiley and if you say you don't want a bag they get a bit iffy. It is quite often cheaper and they do have certain things my Boots doesn't stock, particularly nail polish brands like Andrea Fulerton and Accessorize and Models Own (nail polish and perfume are my 'thing'), but it's not somewhere that I particularly want to browse if you see what I mean. I also like that Boots has points and that the offers tend to be better and fairly consistent.
I do however agree that the media makes us intimidated by teenagers. I'm only 23 myself but if there's a group of teenagers, particularly lads in hoodies (sorry to stereotype), lurking around on the street or coming towards me on the path I get really nervous. Generally they just ignore you or shout stupid things - I was struggling down the main street in Preston with my massive red spotty Cath Kidston bag on Sunday night when some little idiot going down the road on a bike yelled, "Oi, that's my bag!" - and I can handle that, but it still doesn't stop me feeling worried that I'm going to look at one of them the wrong way or something bad is going to happen.
Oh, and re: Body Shop hemp products, I always find they smell really strongly - the lip protector is one of my wonder products but I'm constantly paranoid that people can smell it on me. I have the body wash as well and now I'm wondering whether or not to get rid of it because I don't want to take ages to work through my stash to get to it and then find it's really strong.Buttercup2305 wrote: »Well I have not bought anything for ages but that is because I had a c section 10 days ago and still finding it hard to walk...so not by choice!!! Oh, and sorry for the double post, but I think I have a splutterer - my Body Shop Cranberry Joy hand cream has just appeared to give up the ghost but then worked on the second squeeze. I've got to get the bus home tomorrow so will swing by Boots on the way to pick up some S&G Hand Food (admittedly that's because it's the cheapest on my to try list for hand cream, but still...)."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0
