Just read your most recent post julie. I know the soaps on the website don't look much but they are really lovely and worth the money. Pleased you got your hand creams

IKWYM julie. Even 11 years on I still find it hard and being a mother myself now, it is sort of a bittersweet time. Beauty adverts and card shops go OTT (QVC presenters mention mothers day constantly when they are flogging beauty items) and it is a relief when the day has come and gone.
If I can, I try to play some of my Mum's favourite music - she liked Neil Diamond and it still brings back lots of memories when I hear his stuff!

Do you have a spy in my office - I just ordered the Lavender soap - :rotfl:- oops - it's like, once you buy one thing, it just seems easier to buy and buy and buy - must stop now and update my signature....thanks for the nice review anyway :D

That's a nice idea about your mums favourite music - I've still got my mums records, except she did love a bit of Barry Manilow - not sure I can suffer that even for her!! :)
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

Afternoon all. Finished an Avene Hydrance Optimale. Not bad, would use again. No splutterers, but bought some cotton wool (needed it) and some OS shower gel (didn't need it)!

I used this stuff and got a real shock as it was blonde on the packet and turned my hair brown!! Luckily I quite liked it, but it was so different from the colour shown that I don't think many people will be rebuying this stuff.
me too my so called med golden brown was dark auburn!!

LOL I used to be like that when my mum was around - it sort of crept up on me each year. Now I feel like it's rammed in my face!
Anyway, I'm not trying to be maudlin, just to remind everyone to appreciate what you have when you have got it. It's often hard when you live miles away from family.

Anyway, back OT - I have been driving home past Boots Outlet once a fortnight in Beckton for a few months now. Traffic is usually too bad to be bothered to detour but tonight it was strangely quiet (I love half terms) so I swung in - purely on the grounds of research for this forum ;).

What a wierd place it is. It's pretty small and gives you that 'empty' type feeling like when a shop is closing down. Not a large variety but BILLIONS of the things they did have. Imagine the boots clearance section in your local store and part of it is like that. Then there are SHELVES UPON SHELVES on the same item (reminded me of the Fearne hatboxes at Lakeside boots in the sale - none of them incidentally) - for example, botanics hair reducing (?!) body wash and Botanics colour shampoos for a quid (I've seen better in pounland). Billions of sun creams and an obviously old No.7 face cream for a fiver - trilions of billions of these! Few prams and kids bits. Some electricals that didn't seem that cheap to me still but to be honest I wasn't that interested by this point. Few random perfumes (locked up.)

This is also where the Christmas stocks go to die. Few bits of gift wrap, loads of weenicons and those subuteo mugs and a few other odds from Christmas.

Needless to say, I left empty handed. Only consolation being the Sainsburys garage opposite was well cheap for petrol :T .

It may be the sort of place you have to check every few weeks for new stock, but I felt let down :(. But then again, glad because I didn't buy anything :A

Hope you all have a great evening of pampering or whatever it is you are planning! :T

A small run in the UU stakes last night and today.

Burts Bees Foot Lotion (Woo hoo :j:j)- WIBA? NEVER - it was greasy, overpowering and overpriced. Truly the worst product I have come across since joining this challange.

Blanx Toothpaste - WIBA - Yes and already have a big stash that was bought on 3 for 2.

Clinique Skin Sparkle Body Scrub - WIBA? I really liked this, lovely texture and smell with just the right amount of scrubby bits. Think I will look out for this on GWP. Shame about the price.

Have a lovely pampering weekend ladies x

I know what you mean about ebay, I sold some of my son's boots last month (little boys size 9) and they ended up going for £19:eek: I was panicking for days that they wouldn't be happy but I had only started them at 99p. Sometimes people pay way over the odds just because they won't be outbid.

Well my four Clinique items are now up to £6.49 with 6 watchers, hopefully all soon to be bidding against one another! :j

Boots Clearance does vary massively - the first few times I went in it was amazing - loads of S&G and Sanctuary stuff. The last time, not so great, and I barely bought anything. It's usually a safe bet for mascaras at £1 each - I have at least one in the drawer that was bought there. As soon as I saw they were selling those bargain bundles of S&G stuff after christmas I guessed that the chances of any of it making it to Beckton were pretty slim. I've been avoiding heading over there, although am planning to meet my SIL there at some stage.

I LOVE Sparkle Skin Fiasco - it truly is my HG scrub although the likelihood of being able to afford it again in the near future is pretty slim! I wish Clinique would hurry up and tell us when Bonus Time will be at Boots!

Huge hugs to all those finding it tough missing Mums at this time of year - and Dads and other relatives too. As for Mothering Sunday it's something we have just never done - my Nan brought my Mum up not taking notice of it and Mum did the same with me - she always says she'd rather have a nice gesture at some other time of the year than on the same day as everyone else, because someone says that should happen! ;) Oddly enough when I was growing up I was always very much the odd one out at school with everyone else talking about what they were getting for their Mums - yet when I met my OH his family are exactly the same - he was the first person I had met whose family felt the same about it!

    Evening all,

Used up loads (the splutterers I reported last week) - so I'm putting £10 into the savings pot :)

    Bought (planned)
Clinique spot clearing gel - they have changed the packaging so it shows how old my last one was! Got the gift with purchase at Debenhams. Gave away the mini mascara to a friend who loves them. Will need to add the other bits to my stash list.

9 (yep!) x Collection 2000 Mineral powder foundation! I found it at an outlet. It's been discontinued so this is a deliberate purchase. It's my HG foundation so I feel no guilt! At least when I find a HG replacement it can be a slow, planned affair (having makeovers and such like). I reckon they will last 2 years. I'm so relieved to have found some! At £3 a tub of 15g I think it is.

    Happy pampering everyone.
