hi all, is anyone finding this week is dragging in?? I really think I will need valium before I get to Saturday morning..lol0
-
Hi, yes it is indeed dragging. I've convinced myself all day that its Thursday and even feels like a Friday. Not long to go. My wee woman was crying last night, she got upset thinking she'll not get her school, those real sore hurting tears. Also the realisation that we have picked the wrong secondary school, but cross that bridge if we come to it. Most of her friends seem to be not worried at all and taking it in their strides. I have a sensitive wee soul.0

Totally YNWA, I don't want to wish my life away BUT time is dragging on. I wonder if we will get 2 letters like my friend another year did, one saying which school and another from the winning school (yes indeed they are lucky to get our little ones) so the postmark on the second envelope gave the game away.0

well folks here we are at Thursday, just 48 hours away.....oh my head hurts and stomach is flipping over already. I know the feeling about wishing your life away but I think we cant help it this week. I must admit to not having any doubts about my choices at the min, I would still put the same 5 schools down and take the chance that my dd will get into one of them. Our problem is she doesnt meet the criteria for any of them as she isn't an eldest child etc, so if she doesn't get on her score then she will not get in on the criteria. Poor you Doggies, my dd isn't as worried as I am, but it is playing on her mind a bit, really feel for you and your child x0

Doggies give her plenty of hugs and I am sure she knows no matter what all will be just fine.
I thought Michelle Obama was extremely good yesterday, I loved the way she took the kids from the inner city school to the poshest uni and put pressure on the establishment to let not just their normal intake in.She is inspirational.
I wonder how many from N. Ireland ever get in there and if so what schools they went to. I suspect real money is involved.0 -
the next 48 hours will be as long as the past 4 months methinks!!!!0

Facing the Future and YNWA, yes she got lots of hugs and I told her not to worry. We picked a secondary school a little further away from our closest one on the recommendation of different people. In my day it was a boys only school and very rough. However it seemed to have turned itself around with a new head etc. My daughter loved it when she went to the open day. Then it was in our local paper a few weeks ago about it being in less than 1% of schools underperforming in Northern Ireland and providing poor education. Our other closer school is where a lot of her friends have put down. I think thats what was upsetting her. But I told her if she didn't get the grammar she wants we could maybe contact the Head of the closest secondary and see if they'll take her. I don't see a big problem with it as they have never turned anyone away yet and we live across the road from it. So I think that settled her a bit. YNWA we have no criteria either for any of the grammars except we are from a local feeder school which I would say wouldn't count for much.
Yes I though Michelle Obama was fantastic as well. She is just lovely.
Oh my goodness it is THURSDAY today! Not long now. Don't know about you lot, but this is 100 times worse than getting the result.0 -
totally agree it is far worse than the result, I have aged at least 15 years in last 4 months! I am just hoping that my little one has got into one of the 5 we put down, if not the only other school that would have spaces is totally unacceptable...I have been so worried about this I have looked into home schooling her. Sounds drastic I know but I really can't see any other way at the minute. I missed Michelle Obama's school bit, been to wound up this week to watch any tv lol....0

My DD has now changed her mind about the school she wants to go to!! She got a C1 and asked me to put down the local grammer for her 1st choice which is where her best friend is going and I did that, but now she says she wants to go the local secondary (which has outstanding results) as most of her other friends are going there. It would be a blessing in disguise if the grammer didn't have a place for her and she got her 2nd place!! I'm glad this is my last transfer to the 'big' school as the stress is killing me!!!!0

Icelandic Queen it's a great position to be in and at least you can relax a wee bit more now that she isn't worried. I am still going slowly mad and my dd is starting to feel a bit anxious..........really wish that we could just log onto a website with a password and their candidate number after 12 tomorrow night!! would be so much easier as I won't be getting much sleep till Sat morning...x0
