Well, March was another slow month. Lets hope April is a bit quicker and May flies in. I wonder what stage schools are at in the whole process? If only I knew someone on the "inside"!!
  • me too Snowjo, the wait is dreadful......the only thing is that the kids don't seem to be talking about it, thank goodness

Does anyone know if there is a definite date in May when we'll hear? Do all the schools send out their letters on the same day? If no definite date does anyone remember when they heard last year?? Oh this is awful - even worse than waiting for the results and that was the anti climax of the year as we were none the wiser!!

    The DENI leaflet said:
"27 May 2011 - your ELB will send you a letter informing you which post-primary school your child has been placed at."
But that doesn't actually say if the letters are sent out on that day, or supposed to arrive on that day...

Wow, I actually got really excited there seeing that there were 314 posts, up from the 310!!!

I think they get posted on 27th to arrive 28th May.

My daughter has convinced herself she is going to Hunter House and I'm afraid to say anything! I just hope her confidence is well founded.

We are busy in our house over the next few months, arrival of 6 choc lab puppies! Thought it would take my mind off these tests, but NO, I still freakishly check every day. :o
  • Confession: I dreamt of buying my son's new uniform last night....it was for his favourite school:j. All was going well until I woke up.:o

    Sad I know.

I wonder what stage the schools are at, they do it in stages don't they?I read last years thread and they were doing the same thing....waiting, impatiently.

Just had a look on the AQE website and the papers our kids sat in November/December are now available.
  • Have just stumbled across this forum and wish I had known about it before my eldest daughter did the transfer last Nov/ Dec! We are keeping our fingers crossed for her first choice, Friends. Was just wondering if anyone knows whether bus passes are allocated these days, and if so, are they are given if you are not attending your closest school, as this would be the case for us. In fact any info on this would be great!

Hi there, I had a bit of sussing out with the bus pass issue as well! My daughter wants to go to Hunter House, prob didn't get enough with 95 for Friends or Wallace. We had to put Friends and Wallace 1st and 2nd, with Hunter House 3rd to get bus pass. If we'd have put Hunter House first we wouldn't get a bus pass as Friends and Wallace are closer. So it depends how far away from Friends you live. If there are any closer grammars you will not get a pass as you have put Friends first.
  • We live 11 miles from Friends and 6 miles from Banbridge Academy our closest grammar school which is her 2nd choice. So we don't have a grammar school within the 3 mile radius - does this then mean we will be okay with Friends? We do have a high school that is 3 miles away. Not that a free bus pass is the most important factor it would be nice not to have to pay for transport!
