firstly i am sooo sorry for your lose victory, i hope you are able to cope and have some support that will help you through this very difficult time.

i am a long time mser usually found lurking in the competiton pages:) i am here to try and get some motivation, i tried for a few weeks last year but wasnt very commited :( so i am back and determined to lose some/LOADS? lol of weight.
i am 35, 5'5'', 12st 12lbs bmi 30 :( (so am obese!!) this is very upsetting although i keep yoyoing everyweek between overweight and obese. i really want to lose at least 2 or 3 stones, i realise it isnt going to happen overnight but i am very stressed that i lose a 1 or 2lbs one week then next week i put it back on :(

i have been using my wiifii plus for 30 mins about 3 times a week since beginning of january and i have a stepper but it is very hard :( i only manage about 2 or 3 mins before my legs are really aching! i am going to try and build this up tho :) so any advice would be great, i have a family to feed so i am trying to keep my meals as they were but not eating as many snacks as i tend to do when i get bored :(

    Hello there :)
It sounds like you're really trying with the exercise :T Do you have an egg timer/stopwatch? Try setting a time of 3 minutes on the stepper for a few days, and keep going until it beeps even if it aches, and then after a few days or even a week, increase it by a minute - at least then you'll be tracking your improvement!

When you lose a couple of pounds one week, do you then 'treat' yourself with food, say an extra snack of a takeaway or something? I got into the habit of that, and it really did affect my weight loss the following week! I'm really trying not to think of unhealthy food as rewarding, it's more like sabotaging all the previous hard work!

If you're regaining the weight pretty quickly but don't know why, have you tried a food diary? I've started to write everything down in a Word file during the day, so at the end of the week I can see how I've done with my food choices.

Understandably you need to think about your family and plan meals around them as well, but even switching to different spreads, milk, yoghurt, lean meat and low fat cheeses will help you - and you could always bulk out meals with mince meat in with grated carrots or a lower fat veggie mince :)

Good luck with the rest of your week :D

  • Morning all :)

I've had a rowing machine in the corner of the lounge for about 6 months, sat doing nothing apart from housing 2 bags and some drying towels... Yesterday, while watching a 'shiver-me-timbers' Biggest Loser episode it started looking at me, so I dusted it off and did 30 minutes! I honestly thought the poor thing would break of I even attempted to sit on it, but Huzzah, it was not so :)

I've now completed the first week of the 'Exercise 3 times a week' challenge, and hopefully it'll all help on the scales on Monday!

How's everyone else doing today? Anybody willingly braving the wild weather?

thats really useful advice, i havent got a specific stopwatch but there is one on my phone, so i will definately try that,

i think i do "reward" myself after losing a pound or 2, i tend to think well i havent really done much different this week and i have lost 2 lbs so that was easy! when in reality i have done a little more exercise and probably eaten less bad foods

i will have a go at the diary and try to make usre i log all the little extras that i put in my mouth. are you just logging it to see what difference are in your eating habits or are you then totting up calories aswell?

I've only just started doing it in the last couple of day, a throw back for 3 years on and off at WW coupled with a suggestion from the leader of an NHS weight loss group I'm hoping to join!
I'm thinking about counting calories, but I might just end up 'pointing' everything after a couple of weeks, as I've got all of the WW still hanging around and it's easy with the scales and calculator. I think I find that writing it down helps because when I know I've got to 'admit' to it on paper I'm more likely to choose a healthy snack over chocolate or something :D

Victory - only just seen your news, been away for a day or two.
So sorry to hear about your mother, that is devastating.
I hope you are ok and my thoughts are with you and your kids.
But please do not dwell on that rift you had lately, remember the happy times. I once read something that really stuck with me - 'May the memories you cherish bring you peace'
Hopefully this will give you a chance to overcome any previous quarrels and bond with your brothers and sisters to become a stronger family unit.

I am planning on kicking my EA acitve's backside tonight.
I would love another good weight loss this week... My aim is to try and get my next stone off (9lb to go!) Would be really nice to get that off before the end of the month. I think I could do it if i up my exercise some!

Has anyone purchased the Zumba for the PS3 yet?

oh yes :-) walked to mcdonalds last night with the dog, it was throwing it down and blustery, we always just have a coffee and a sit for 10 minutes before heading back, we cant take the dog indoors obviously, so sit at one of the outdoor tables. Last night the roof overhead offered no shelter so we were sat in the wet and the cold with hoods fastened tightly round our faces... and people in cars were slowing down to stare at us!

    Ha ha ha! :rotfl:

That sounds like something one of my friends would do, sans dog, just for the lulz!

I've had to go out for the school run, which is about 15 mins each way - a good way to get an hours walk in. After Lucinad was talking about his/her (please delete as appropriate!) stepper I dug mine out - set the timer for 30 minutes thinking 'oh, easy, used to do that all the time..' but after 5 minutes my legs were burning :o Had to alternate between marching on the spot and doing step-ups and managed to get to 20 minutes before I had to stop! I have to keep reminding myself that the 4 extra stone I put on last year means I HAVE to ease back into it slowly or I'll end up incapacitating myself :( After the first Wii dance session on Monday my knees ached for about 2 days!
