I work in finance.
Over the years I have worked in various types of roles, but all of a finance/accounts/money/payroll background.
You can branch out a little;)
In an ideal world absolutely. In fact Im longing for the day my husband dies so I can gain some self respect and that of you all on here and I too can work again. :mad:I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

Oh I'm sorry, I'm just on the heart transplant list, my family have no idea of the issues around disability.0

This is getting well well off topic and people are starting to get nasty here, its only a debate at the end of the day we all do the best we can with what we have.
This was never about disability - it was the OP was about a woman who had not bothered telling the benefits agency that she had 10k in the bank.
The disability chat has taken over and is starting to get nasty now yet once again I say it was never about that..The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

Sorry mangler but you are so rude. Perhaps KK had to go out to work every day worrying about her poor husbands condition but having no choice in working because the benefits weren't as generous 12 years ago and it was her responsibility to keep a roof over her husbands head?
Could you imagine the stress of having to work while your husband is sat at home alone, perhaps with a carer or a neighbour for an hour, worried about losing the house, the impending electric bill and the stresses that just come with working?
Exactly. I worked nights in a senior position in a busy district hospital.
Every morning I used to go home scared to turn the corner into my street in case the lights weren't on which would probably mean he had had another heart attack and had been unable to summon help. Can you imagine what it is like to be a member of the cardiac arrest team bleeped to resus for an incoming heart attack patient to get there and find it is your own husband? It happened to me. In fact I was back at work less than a week after his discharge following his bypass surgery because I had no annual leave left and we couldn't afford for me to take time off unpaid.
You all seem to think we had it so easy. Nothing could be further from the truth.0 -

Not at all, Im not the first and I wont be the last. But how can I work? its 24/7, I can be up all night and day when hes manic, at the same time as sorting the rest of the family out. I can be fighting him not to overdose or cut himself, I can be rushing him to hospital, there are any number of things I have to do which occur unexpectedly, we live rurally, there are no neighbours and in any case a stranger coming in is the worst thing that could happen to him. So all I ask is you consider the fact you had a break from the caring routine as being luckier than others. I have no break at all, even respite care has been stopped due to funding cuts.I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

So I was lucky to have to go to work to keep a roof over our heads rather than be able to give my husband the care he needed and deserved?
At least nowadays benefits provides you with the means to keep a home and a decent standard of living up.
The very fact that benefits have evolved to meet more of people's needs and actually give them a choice is admirable and all the more reason why no one should be allowed to abuse the system that provides the financial help.0 -

Oh yes, because you can judge someones place on the transplant list by their postings on internet forums :rotfl:0 -
Get over it all of you.
Now i suggest people look again on the stickies in this section which states what rules your breaking because i;'m about to start reporting all the relevant posts and i don't think mods should have there times wasted by this.Just one thing as it would be good to have this as a friendly board, if you have a complaint about a poster (including Boardguides) or about a particular thread or post, please report this to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com . This would include aggressive, personal and judgemental posts and ones that suggest or encourage fraud or illegal ways to obtain benefits.
Get over there and take your judgemental views with you all of you.:T0 -

Yes, judgemental - just as you have come in and judged everyone who has contributed to this debate. You have contributed nothing yet come in and threaten to start reporting people after pages and pages of discussion. Keyboard warrior! The opposite of what you know...is also true0
