Can I Use Glysophate Now to Kill Ivy?

Yes, you can use glyphosate to help control ivy. Note I say "control" because killing ivy is a long-term project.
Bruise the leaves a little before spraying on (whacking them with a stick is effective) and try not to spray it around willy-nilly, but onto the leaves proper. As soon as it starts to die off strip it out and dispose of it by burning or the tip, not the compost bin. If you have thick stumps it helps to cut them to a fresh surface, then paint with stump killer. Give them a few weeks then dig out as much as you can. Avoid planting food crops in the area the roots and spray have affected for a few months...a green manure crop would be ideal though.Val.0 -

we're still digging the damn things out. it's tough those blasted long tap roots, enough to give me a bad shoulder, that i leave it to my OH for that job, and the rest of the weeds, i can handle myself...
as we're still in the digging stage, we're still getting on with what we can do ourselves. the jury's still out on weedkillers on here, that i'm just doing what i need to do on the plot really. so i'm really bothered about w/killers as yet. thanks for all your replies ppl...0
