I know exactly where you are coming from,I change underwear maybe 6/8 times a day and have come from the shower into the bedroom and thought "oh oh I need the loo" and on the way to the loo in the next doorway I have wet myself grr.
Getting up to answer the door I have to hightail it up the stairs before opening the door but nearly always too late.
I was trying to get the courage to broach this with my doctor so I am going to go on monday.

    mmm

It is horrible .. no warning and you stand there and your body just does what it wants!
You can't stop it.. cross your legs .. doesn't work , the harder you try the less control you have

Thing is girls we are only in our 50,s or even younger.
The DR will refer us to an incontinence clinic.. ie not my problem .. its your age
WE are 50 plus women .. some have had kids ,some have not and I am b**** annoyed that my DR passes the buck.

tena lady is your friend ...

I believe you can get free samples.

and this is NOT medical advice, because I know there could be many causes, but I read just recently that one of those devices for strengthening your pelvic floor muscles is now available on prescription.

if it's any comfort, I was recently in hospital and flooded the bed, before I could get to the commode. :o and it was a male nurse who'd wheeled said commode in. :o:o

Specialist clinics specialise in different things, so you won't find a bunion clinic on every street corner, nor a continence clinic.
Doctors don't pass the buck, they refer patients on to specialisms according to clinical need.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Your doctor is not passing the buck! He's referring you to a specialist clinic.
Pad up beforehand and take some spares and you'll cope with the journey.

I had this problem when in my 30's after 3 children, I was given excercises to do which didn't work , after I told my GP I couldn't carry on like this as it was affecting every aspect of my life I was referred to the hospital where I had a small surgery to stitch my bladder back in place (caused by my large babies) , I have never had any trouble since and that was nearly 30yrs ago. I hope the clinic helps you .

I believe this is an extremely common problem in women of about 50 and older - at least that's what my GP said!:p I wasn't referred to an incontinence clinic, though, he gave me a prescription for detrusitol which has helped enormously.

    Thanks Savvy Sue
OMG my pride won't let me do the Tena. OK if there is nothing else
.I am only 50 years old
If the problem is so widespread .. surely there must be someone somewhere looking into this problem?
If the DR's would start taking women who come to them aged 50 plus seriously instead of labelling them as menopausal for every visit they make maybe things would change for the better.
