I won.t rejoin under another name because I think this might be happening to other people of my age.
The thing is I have a weak bladder ( I think) , but it has got to the stage where I am wetting myself more and more.
I am 50 have had 2 children and it has got so bad recently.. where if I sit for a long period of time .. ie driving .. once I stand up I really cannot control the urge to Pee and do not have the time to find a loo.
My Dr has advised I need to attend a clinic 16 miles away!
I know some people might find this hilarious .. it really is not.. I am tired of covering up this problem but I am being honest here and my street cred on MSE is now in ruins .

I strongly advise you to take your doctor's advice and go to the continence clinic. I am a couple of years younger than you and my problem is not quite as severe possibly as I don't have children.
They are the experts and going there has made a difference to me.
It is a far more common problem than people realise as it is never talked about.

Thank you
The thing I do not undersand is why I have to travel 16 miles .
Surely there a whole lot of women who have to deal with this?
Why do they have to attend a certain clinic?
I am a NHS patient , my Dr has said .. OK moving you on now .. not my prob, make an appointment with this clinic 16 miles away and they will sort it..
I want to find out why I am wetting myself after 2 kids .. it is not rocket science and I would prefer my DR to look into the reasons why this is happening

Sorry
The clinic is the doctor looking into it though. It will be a specialist clinic dealing with women with continence problems and they are the people to look into what is happening and how to resolve it. Be grateful you have a doctor who took you seriously but it will only get worse if you don't deal with it.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Have you recently given birth?
If your children are older then it's not really anything to do with that.
Assuming you've no infections of any kind there are a couple of reasons for bladder weakness, can you have a read through this........

It really is the most embarrassing thing that can happen to anyone .
You end up spending your whole life looking for the nearest Loo in every situation you find yourself in.
You laugh, cry , cough .. whatever and suddenly you loose control .
Does this happen to every woman who has given birth and now hits 50?
OK I will go with the referal.. 16 miles away0 -

No I am not someone who has recently given birth.. my kids are 24 and 19..
I am so fed up with this problem that reared it's head 2 years ago and is getting progressively worse with no help from my DR who tells me it is my age!
I have one of those wonder coils that apparently mean you don't go through the menopause ..
begining to wonder if this might be part of the problem?
It really has been fantastic
I have had this for 6 years.0 -
I know exactly where you are coming from,I change underwear maybe 6/8 times a day and have come from the shower into the bedroom and thought "oh oh I need the loo" and on the way to the loo in the next doorway I have wet myself grr.
Getting up to answer the door I have to hightail it up the stairs before opening the door but nearly always too late.
I was trying to get the courage to broach this with my doctor so I am going to go on monday.
53 yrs old and 3 sons in their 20s/30s.
