    hi

just updated myself with this thread.

i ordered the red one, got sent the blue and when i rang them up about the slow processor etc, said to to just send it back for a refund, no goodwill gesture whatsoever. what should i do?

    shall i email?

Stage a sit in at your nearest store!
Arrange for the local press to be there and don't budge until they give you a £30 refund at the very least! :D:D

Why not call again to see if you can get more luck with another person. The lady I spoke to on the phone, after she saw what I mean (I told her where on the website the descriptions says N450), said 'oh yes, let me see what we are doing about it'

I got £20 in the end.

If you had installed AVG or another piece of software you would not be able to return it.;)

Wouldn't it be better ebaying it, rather than getting a refund?

They are going for £150 to £211 on ebay so if you wanted to make a profit rather than just getting your money back that would be an option.

Bet the buyer who paid £211 would be gutted to discover they could have bought it for almost half that price just a few days earlier!

I rang up was offered 10% on each of the ones I'd bought straight away as they guy said he had a memo, so £28.60, then he said hold on I need to talk to my manager, several minutes later he comes back and says I can't have anything and to contact Acer as there isn't a difference! I then asked to speak to the manager and was on hold for ages.

I pointed out I'd been offered a goodwill gesture and now they weren't offering it and they shouldn't have promised it and the manager agreed completely and I said that I wasn't happy I'd been on hold for so long and they should round it up.

Anyway I got my £30 for both in the end and with the quidco money and points too I'm really pleased so thanks for the tips - OH put Kubuntu on mine and I really like it - had Ubuntu on my last one and that was good but this is better.

This is great, I've never had anything portable before! I thought I'd miss the PC by now. Huge thanks to the OP, what a bargain, and for all the techie hints. I shouldn't really be using it yet as my birthday isn't for another month, but hey.
Even hubby was impressed with the quality of the screen and how it plays media, even though he's used to powerful machines. We cleared out most of the poop, installed openoffice, avg, opera (loving this), and other stuff I have no idea about. And I have kindle on here too, so ready for my holiday - when is June?

This thread is becoming a second family to me! Who can recommend an external cd/dvd drive to go with this, please? I've noticed that ebay have some which are just cd drives and others which are rw/dvd. My printer stuff is on cd and I didn't do a very good job of downloading drivers or transferring the cd info on to a memory stick.
I'm going to have fun later, my Crucial memory has arrived!

I bought mine from eBay and got a DVD RW one (just in case I wanted to back up onto DVD). I paid just over £20.

I would suggest as a minimum to get one capable of at least reading DVD's.
