I usually do my weekly shop on a Thursday but last night the weather was so foul that I decided food wasn't really that important . Will go tonight instead, hope it's not too busy - the list isn't too long though.

I'm going to try Lidls for the first time - I've used it for oddments before but never for a weekly shop. Does anyone have any hints, things which are particularly cheaper there than Tesc0, or things which aren't worth the saving?? I'm mainly looking for bread, rolls or pitas, fresh f&v, frozen veg, fresh meat including a chicken or a roasting joint, maybe some snacky biscuits etc., and loo rolls.

    good morning x

I did my weekly shop on wed and spent £48.33 which is right on target. I even managed to get the kids some new polo shirts and jumpers for school in that. However I forgot to buy any cereal and toothpaste so I'll need to go probably on monday for next weeks shop. I made a list and stuck to it so I'll do that for monday too then I won't end up over spending fingers crossed. I did get quite a few bits of reduced veg on wed so hoping there will be more of it on monday.

    Evening everyone

Just wanted to say that I probably won't be on here much for the rest of the month as sadly my Dad passed away last night. He had been very ill in hospital but it has still come as a huge shock. I'm determined to keep a rough eye on what is being spent but to be honest I'm really not bothered if we spend too much this month. I hope you all keep on track with your NSD's and your budgets and remember

We don't fail, we look, we learn and we move on

    Helen x

Do take care and look after yourself, sorry to hear of your loss.

I think they need to get used to the joy of lentils as thats what we will be eating mostly this month!

Helen Sorry to hear about your dad. Sending you a great big squashy (hug).

£31.96 spent this week. I must have stocked up more than I realised last week. I have also joined slimming world so will be looking out some of Mrs M's recipes and also actually cooking and eating some of the stuff from the freezer instead of just looking at it and then making toast.....

£21.15 spent in Mr M's yesterday.

Sorry to hear about your dad Helen, I know from experience (in my case it was my mum) how much of a shock it can be, even if you are expecting it. Take care of yourself, I'll be thinking of you.

    Hugs
    Sue.

    Sorry for your loss Helen.

So far I have spent £141.52 out of my budget, but I did quite a big shop last week & still have loads of mince, sausages & veg in the freezer. I have bought some pasta in bulk from work (i work for a foods manufacturer) so worked out that i will save £15 if i had bought them from the shop! The pasta is gonna last me all year lol!

Got a few bits on ebay so hoping they'll do well......

    Updating a few spends:

    80p in Superdr*g
    £1.65 in Mr S
    £2.63 in Mr T

    I couldn't quite understand why 1 pack of 3 onions were £1.14 in Mr T, but 2 packs of 3 onions were £1 :p
I was going to get onions loose on a per kilo basis at self checkout, but when it came to paying it worked it to be more expensive than buying the packs. I cancelled the transaction, went back to get the onions on offer. Before this I would have been too embarrassed to cancel and would have just bought the more expensive product. :D
