Spent £29.36 between Te$co and the butchers. For this got a large pork joint which will be cut into two and half will go in a pork casserole on Sunday and the other half frozen. About 8 turkey breast slices 3 for tea tonight and the rest gone in the freezer, pork ribs (plenty of meat on them) which has been split into two packs and frozen and some bacon. In Te$co brought some fish, fruit & veg, bread, jam and a few other bits. Then we went to Wing Lee's which is a chinese food warehouse that has opened a few miles away. (think it has been mentioned on here recently) We were quite impressed and brought two lots of prawn crackers (the ones you fry yourself) these cost 50p each but the boxes are double the weight of the ones I usually buy for £1.19, brought a large pack of vermicilli which our local Te$co no longer stock, rice vinegar, some shrimp spring rolls - 10 large size for £3.30, some of the pancakes that you use when you do duck pancakes, these were £2.95 but there are 17 packs with 6 in each pack so 102 in total !! Also brought a bamboo steamer which cost £3.70 and was dearest thing we got. Total here came to £13.93 and I am sure we will be going again at some point. Will need milk tomorrow, a newspaper, and flowers think that will be it for Feb but will declare on Monday just in case.

well done to everyone who has already finished their Feb challenge and I hope it all ended well. For those who went over not to worry March is another month to try to conquer.
    MARCH £62.38/250
  • Hi

Can I be put down for £200 for March please.

I have had my online shop from Te***s which was £76.31 and a small spend at L**l of £3.31. Got all my staples, need to meal plan now and make a list (hopefully small) for any fresh things we need for this week, maybe a chicken and some veg.

I've made rolls rather than bread for the last couple of days for lunches and they are a nice change. I also made a really easy all in one banana bread yesterday which went down well with everyone, I might make another one tomorrow for lunch boxes next week.

Has anyone tried L*dl face moisturiser? I am going to run out soon and was looking at it today, it is £1.99 and wondered if it's worth a try.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Can I pick someones brain please?

I made a Veggie Bean Curry for tea last night, but forgot to halve the recipe which was for 4 people, and there are only 2 of us eating it, so I have some left over.

Obviously I could freeze and use at a later date but I was wondering if I could make a kind of pasty with it? I've never made a pasty (I'm going to try and make some as part of my "new recipes" to try out in March for a "weekend" tea iykwim) so not sure what to do.

I guess I make enough pastry (plain or SR?) to make a couple of circles, put a dollop of the curry mixture in the middle and the draw pastry up into a pasty shape and crimp edges. Is that it? And would I need to add any liquid to the curry mixture? And how long would I cook them for?

  • it's usually shortcrust pastry for a pasty and that's plain flour, as far as I can remember!
Don't think you would need any liquid, don't put any extra in mine when I make them. I cook frozen pasties for about 50 mins to an hour, so maybe check them after 35-40 minutes, depending how big they are?
good luck with them, let us know how you get on!:)
  • Popped into MrM today - milk, apples, salad, crisps and deodorant. Spent £15.87

Didn't have a list (so spent more than expected & forgot a few things!) Still need to top up with what I forgot and will declare on Tuesday.

Don't suppose anyone knows what L**l's weekend specials are? Can't seem to find it on their website for some reason.

    thanks x

    Thanks maid in cornwall :)

janie not sure whether it's the same across the country, but my website isn't showing any weekend offers either.

Rosie We all appreciate you adding each new recipe posted, and keeping it all in order for us. I often have a browse through, so thank you for taking the time to do it all :)

Hope you're ok - you've been very quiet lately :kisses3:
