Just received a call from these guys on my mobile regarding PPI.

Very few people have access to this number, impossible for them to have got it through banks and no other PPI company has ever got through.

When I explained he had the rang person he hung up. As I'd missed who they were, I then rang them to explain there was no way they could have connected my mobile to any bogus claim and I just wanted to find out who they were so I could report them. Don't think they'll risk bothering me again
  • I received a call from this company today. A lady called Hannah who asked if I'd had any loans. I told her which bank and she asked me if I'd remembered them saying that I needed payment protection in case I lost my job. I said I couldn't remember so she reworded the question twice so she obviously wanted me to try and make something up. She then tried to put me through to a direct line to my bank to ask me to find out the numbers of my loan accounts which I had taken PPI. She told me that if they ask me if I'm going through a PPI claims company to say 'No' and that I was doing it myself. So she just wanted me to lie. At which point I hung up before I got through. That sounds very dodgy if they are trying to get you to lie to the bank. She told me I would be refunded 20% of my loan value plus 8% interest.
I then had 5 phones calls and 5 voicemails within a couple of minutes from 0161 861 4000 and 01204 283003. All sounds very dodgy to me so I'll just ignore those calls in future.

What are the realistic chances of my getting any kind of refund (if I claim this back myself) ? I wouldn't use this lot for sure

Depends on the reasons for your complaint and if they are valid or not or whether you just get lucky.

  • Hubby has just had a call from them on his mobile phone about a loan he had about 20yrs ago....or so they said. How they got the mobile number to relate to that loan I dont know cause 20 yrs ago we didnt have a mobile phone. lol. I told him to tell them to bolt and was warning him not to give them any info....told him to tell them to send him the paperwork to prove he had a claim cause we both know that there hasnt been any PPI on anything we have had since the first time and we kicked up a stink about that cause we hadnt agreed to it. Guy called Joshua Kerrison on 0161 850 0110 but the number on the mobile showed up as 01204 238003. Strange that one. lol

Phone numbers are re-cycled by the providers. Another customer will have previously held your number.

Just received a call from this company from a very aggressive and rude man, name of Craig. The call came through to my mobile; he stated my number was on a database and was extremely persistent. He also denied he was cold calling, even though he did not have my name! I stated three times I wanted my number removed from the database - he refused. I cut him off mid flow and have blocked him from my phone. Incidentally, I never give out my mobile number other than friends/family....

I have just received a large payment from HSBC for mis-sold PPI which I would not have got without the help of HYC.
I tried to get this payment myself, but the bank put lots of obstacles in my way, and refused to deal with me unless I could provide bank statements to prove I had paid these premiums, which I could not provide.
I then tried another company which also had no luck in dealing with HSBC.
I had just about given up hope of ever retrieving any compensation when I received a call from HYC, and I told them of my problem with this bank, admittedly this took some time to process, but I did have a copy of the original contract.
Then in April of this year HYC sent a text to say that they had been made a offer by HSBC.
HSBC still wanted proof of ID and bank account details, for both myself and my wife, and has taken 2 months to process this payment since the offer.
So I cannot fault HYC, as most of the other people do in this forum.

How much of your redress did you pay them ,though?

What "obstacles" did this claim company overcome for you exactly by putting a stamp on the envelope containing your complaint?

Do you, in fact, work for this firm?

Are you the above mentioned "Craig"?:D

I do not work for this company, in fact I am retired so every penny helps.
Talking to HSBC was like talking to a robot, they even told me they could not talk to me, because they did not recognize my previous address, even though I had lived there for 27yrs and had taken out the loan at this address.
I think this company did a little more than just put a stamp on a envelope, and I believe without their help I would not have the refund that I have just received.
Yes they took a 3rd of the payment, but when I was not getting anywhere with my claim, I let them do all the work for me.
