Right we have success at last...

Npower came round again last night to sign the paper work for my replacement free of charge boiler!

They are doing it very begrudgingly though it is clear they really dont want to do it.

I hope Npower learn something from this, it is NOT acceptable to keep customers waiting for 3 months during the coldest months of the year while they mess about guessing what is wrong with a failed boiler.

It is still going to cost us a few hundred pounds in prep work they dont cover though.

Better than over £1,000 for a new boiler though. Glad for you, i think your the first person to get a new boiler i have ever seen.
    Owed out = lots.
  • True, I guess having the boiler cover has paid off for us in one way but the stress of the whole situation was not worth it. :(

Have you some insider info on Npower Widelats? I do believe it is true that I am or rather will be the only person to ever get a replacement boiler.

On another note I was supposed to get a call today from Npower installations team, guess what....... no call !!

They are going to get another earfull tomorrow morning

are you seriously advising to render a safety device in-operable thus making the boiler DANGEROUS under the Gas safety regulations and who-ever did it to be prosecuted???

    Todays update:

Finally got to speak to theinstallation team, they tried to tell me that the earliest they could install would be April if I wanted a saturday!!

But that wasnt good enough I cant wait any longer so Npower are coming to install the new boiler next friday 25th Feb !!!
My gas-safe man will be doing the prep work on thursday 24th so that means another two days off work but theres no other option.

God help Npower if they cancel on me.

i would be sending all these details over to the newspapers......If this was British gas we would have been hung drawn and quartered by now.

In the future....always make sure a written complaint goes to a managing director.....not the monkeys
  • Can't believe I fell for this AGAIN! I had holy hell with homeserve over selling the contract to another company who only worked mon-fri during working hours, even though I had asked will I get 24/7 callout as I am severley disabled. Basically I was mis-sold the Boiler insurance. And when Homeserve scandal boke out admitting they had been mis-selling I got back in touch as I had no help whatsoever when I was sat for 5 days with no heating or hot water. And this time BINGO they listened, they asked me how they could resolve it and I just told them pay me back all the £25 a months I'd paid, I received almost £400 back from them so fair play at the end of the day they held their hands up and it was resolved. Didn't help my condition sitting for 5 days freezing though, but at least they coughed up.
After that fiasco I was sure never to fall for this again, so when I received a letter stating because I was a dual fuel customer NPOWER would give me a good deal on boiler cover, I decided to take it up, but before I signed up online, I called them, I spoke to them at lengths about 24/7 call out, would I be covered at night and weekends, I also asked if they sold the contracts on and was told definitely not it was NPOWER employees that come out and fix your boiler, I explained I was severley disabled and I was assured as I am high priority I would be sorted immediately, today at 3ish I noticed my house was cold went to check boiler and nothing, I rings NPOWER HOMETEAM to be told Thursday at the soonest, amazing I received a letter last week saying because I had boiler free breakdown they were going to give me 50% of my payments in the bank £90, then suddenly it goes just before the last week...grrrrrrrrrrr. Yo make matters worse I have explained to them how disabled I am and now my mum is with me and is suffering from cancer, still Thursday, I asked if I get it repaired myself will I still get 50% of my payments back and was told NO cos I would be using a third party. I feel NPOWER have left me with little option as I asked to speak to their HOMETEAM manager who promised to call me back and I'm still sat waiting, I cannot cope in my terrace house with no hot water or heating for 2 days. So I will get it repaired tomorrow at my own cost and will bill them, if they refuse to pay I will go to the ombudsman as they mis-sold me this contract and I am furious. I will be demanding all my payments back, I had no idea they were dealing with homeserve as I would not have used them again.
