But any PVR does exactly what Sky+does. It's not a Sky exclusive.

Does it have ALL of the channels of a standard sky package?

What platform are you referring to-Freeview or Freesat?
The point I was making is that you don't need to have a Sky sub to get PVR facilities with your TV.

Well as this is a post about swapping sky to freesat then in this case freesat but tbh it applies to both platforms.

I love sky plus not only because it records, rewinds, slowmo's and series links but also becasue I get 1000s of channels of rubbish to watch. My name is bunny and I am a TV addict. If I lost the sky channels, fx, dave, dmax etc I would be lost for reality tv fodder.

  • With I player on both the BBC and ITV, which we watch the most even on Virgin, I'm considering the options at the moment too...

Where I think freeview/freesat are a great idea, they just do nnot have the channels I watch. I enjoy sky1, comedy central, living (a bit), fx it goes on. All not available if I dont subscribe to sky (no cable in my area). I understand channel 1 is availabel on freeview but it 'closes down'? Is that right?

Our Humax box has BBC I player on it, and was easy to set up as I have a pair of adapters which plug into the mains and carry the network upstairs to the router.

Freesat say that ITV player is coming "soon" but from another post on here, I last night discovered how to access the ITV player, albeit in beta test form, and last night we watched a Miss Marple episode on ITV player (well the Mrs. did)

So you get Sky1, Sky2, Living, universal, syfy, FX, alibi, Dave, nat geo, Discovery, History and around 12 childrens channels on the freesat box now?

I'll have to look into it, I would hate to be paying Sky £24.50 for them now they are free on freesat!

Is the new Sky Atlantic channel also starting on freesat on the 1st?

Maybe I missed the intentioned sarcasm, but the channels you've listed are all subscription channels, except Dave which is available on Freeview, but not Freesat.

Sky Altantic will only be on Sky for the time being.
