New job scuppered by bank

Even though I am shaky with anticipation I am still worried about the money. But I am sorry you had such a long transition time last year. Thank god your family came through. My family dont want to know. I asked one of them for help but she put down too many conditions and I couldnt promise anything as I dont know myself. It made me feel like I was begging.Well all I can say is keep your head firmly up.
I'm sure if someone said to you, would you pay 16p a day to be able to land this new job, you would have taken it.
I changed jobs last year, and it financially screwed me for about 7 months, until I finally faced my debt with the help of my family. And career and happiness wise i'm so glad I did. In the short term i'm having to cut right back, but in the long term I have a career I enjoy, one which will earn me more money and bring me more satisfaction.
If you ever want to vent, my door(inbox) is always open.
I am though so pleased that you made that change and now your life is settling down again. Sometimes we have to just step outside the well trodden path and try something else. I was so unhappy in my job that I would have more than likely just walked out one day and then I would have been in the poo!! I have so many bills and debts that would have meant sudden death I think if I had have done that.
Thank you for your encouragement though....0 -
BTW how do I find the diaries section? Couldnt find it on the home page - does it have a special title - other than the word diaries?????0

Diaries section is here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=177
It's a sub-board of the DFW board, so on the forum homepage it shows just below DFW, if you go to DWF there's a link at the top.
Hope the job switch goes smoothly now the direct debits have been changed

Am I the only one here who found the opening and subsequent entries to be completely immature? What difference does it make how old the girl was in the bank, at the end of the day she's qualified to do that job. They don't have to lend you money, it is their money and thier decision after all. Why call her spineless? A personal attack Because she made a suggestion like "sell your car". Forgive her and me for thinking a way of making money was to sell something you actually own... After all that is how the world works right? I'm fed up of people on here expecting the world owes them something. If you need money, you have a bad history and you have another job lined up, there is nothing wrong with a payday loan. Payday loans only go wrong when you're under some disillusion as to how you will pay it back.Working to make our future as secure and comfortable as possible.0

A pay day loan wouldn't work here. If she were to use a pay day loan to survive until the end of the month then pay it back, she'd have no money to cover the next months bills, and so would have to take out another pay day loan.
I do think the words about the young girl could have been harsh, but then customer service has gone down hill quite rapidly recently. Also it's probably not the banks money, it's probably this womans money anyway, assuming it's one of the banks we all own, but get no dividends from.Current Debt: 0%.Current House Deposit: 7%.0 -
Hello!
Just wanted to say well done on the job!
Not sure where you are based but it might be useful to note for future reference that the NHs has it's own credit union - which covers the North of England and scotland.
You can do everything online with them.Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge - £359/£10,000

You are quite wrong here. The world owes me nothing and I dont expect anything from 'the world'. I went to the bank expecting to be sold something and I was quite happy to pay for that. They are in the business to make money and they would have made money out of me. I am not naive and I am certainly not immature. I see things as they are. The girl was a drip of the first order. There was no getting through to her on any level. She represents her bank/boss. Therefore in my eyes she has failed and I will call her spineless if thats the way I see her. Why couldnt the bank have sent someone who was indeed a little more mature and a little more wordly wise instead of a young girl who still lived with her mummy and then to tell me that I was bad with money. I only asked for help after all not a loan to buy a bloudy holiday or a wedding - now that would have been a waste of money..
You, whoever you are, should not judge unless of course you are God almighty and even then keep your uncalled for opinions to yourself. In short. Shut up.0 -
Oh and another thing. Payday loans? Are you having a real laugh here. Stupid suggestion. Have you seen the interest rate. I may be bad with money but I am not a bad person and I know a rip off when I see one.......Thank you Shane BTW for your post, that explains why a paydfay loan is out of the question. Didnt even consider one anyway.....0

I'm going to say something right out of left field here. Your credit rating is already shot for the next 6 years so..........
Cancel all direct debits, for 2 months, get the new job sorted and get back on your feet with the cash from them, then start again with the bills, jump straight on the phone with the CCCS and get a DMP in line for all unsecured debts.
That way you get the job and you get on your feet without really affecting your credit rating. 2 months is not long enough for companies to be bothered about the cash and CCCS will be dealing with it all during these 2 months so should be less to payout when you do start paying.
Sounds bad but it is a way to get things done then you can pick things up on the other side of your job.24.01.2011-Total-£19286.13.State-£195.19,CarLoan-£0,Halifax-£1974,Egg-£7557,MBNA-£0,Dad-£650.06.Backpay-£8657.31

This is supposed to be the "Debt Free Wannabe" board, not the "Oh yes please, I'd love to be in even more debt that I cannot pay back thanks to the eye-watering, 2600% interest rate on my payday loan" board.
Get a grip! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
