New job scuppered by bank

I am of the mind now - having chewed it over and over - not to accept the offer - much as I would love the job. I have precisely 27p from now until a) end of February if I take the job and 27p b) if I stay with my present job and get paid as usual on 10th. Which ever way I am stuffed - and thats for trying to get out of this trap.. No chance whatsoever. I am so upset I cant cry even. Couldnt eat my supper - the dog loved the beans (oh god!!) though.
Thanks for listening though x x x0 -
Hello, couple of more questions as you may be able to juggle the dates a bit....

How much notice do you have to give?

Stressed, don't give up, you must have to give a months' notice, there's time to sort it out
eg give 4 weeks notice on Mon 31 Jan therefore leave Friday 25th Feb so you'd get all of Feb pay on the 10th as usual.
If you've any hols due, this would be paid either in the Feb salary or on 10th March (giving you a wee bit to tide you over until hosp salary kicks in).
Even better would be if you could hang on a couple of weeks before giving your notice ie Mon 14th Feb - leaving Fri 11th March & start @ hosp Mon 14th March.
You'd get full pay 10th Feb & some money 10th March to tide over till hosp pay kicks in @ end March.
Don't give up, this is a fantastic opp to let you have more income & be able to do a job you'd really enjoy.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

The pay on 10th covers 20th to 20th of following month. 20th being the cut off date for processing wages.Hello, couple of more questions as you may be able to juggle the dates a bit....

I have to give one week even though I am paid monthly..
I have 0.53 hours of holidays left - I have used up all my holidays for 2010. And our new year starts March.0 -
This is actually quite doable. I just have to remember it!! I havent had the actual OFFER - you know the one that is the absolute OFFER!! Dates, inductions dates, pay dates etc. I know the final reference has been acknowledged and so I am just waiting for the phone call/letter to come through.Stressed, don't give up, you must have to give a months' notice, there's time to sort it out

You could be on to something here. I have a tendency to over react and get myself all worked up in situations like this. I shall let you know then what I think after I have slept on it tonight - well, not slept acutally - more tossed and turned more like I think....

Stay at current employer until Fri 18th Feb therefore get full pay on 10th.
Start at hosp Mon 21st Feb & get part pay @ end Feb (you may need to contact them to check how they work - our pay cut off is the 12th to be paid on the last working day but if we know someone is starting on say the 21st, we can add them to the system before they start to ensure they get paid at the end of their first month).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Some NHS jobs are paid weekly - if this is the case and you start on the 14th March you would have 4 weeks pay before the 10th April- assuming you are paid on Fridays. If you are on 800 a month this would be about 738 so even a tiny pay increase (£160 a year) with your new job would give you enough to meet the 750 bills.
It can be done. There must be a way!But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

You are such an inspirational hope for me - both of you - lilylass too. I slept ok last night thinking that this could be done if I played it right. I dont mean play I mean work it in my favour!!! I have a spring in my step this morning so I am off to work and I shall have a quiet word in Personellles (sp) ear and see if something can be worked out. I am still awaiting the official nod though from the hospital.. Bujt its early yet and I dont get the post until lunchtime here.....
