Does anyone know how to do a blog? Maybe this is the way foward so I dont clog up the works here! Where does one go. How does one start. I do have a blog - of which I never blogged anything. My son set it up for me. I think this forum isnt the place for chit chats!! But I would love to let you know how I get on....0

Congrats on the new job! You're quite right about new challenges! I start a new job tonight (same company, promotion) that is going to be a real challenge (I'll be managing people who trained me when I started!) but where would the world be if we all just sat on our laurels and never left our comfort zone?!
I hope it all goes swimmingly, and good on your friend for helping you out!

Hiccup time. It was all going a bit too smoothly there! My line manager has just phoned to say the company wont allow me to pay it (wages paid into bank on 10th) back on a regular basis under any circumstances so 1) I either suspend the wages so they dont hit the bank on 10th, OR 2) get the wages and then pay it all back instantaneously - which is going to be impossible as mortgagge, loans, insurances, gas and eletricity all come out then. I am going for the stopping of the wages to even hit my bank account. I am going to ring each direct debit now and ask them to change the date for my pay from the hospital. That way they will be deff paid. They are the ones that worry me the most. The living money and petrol etc is secondary to incurring charges left right and centre.
Blood pressure up a bit now, as well as a banging feeling in my head!!!! No wonder my user name is Mrs Stressed!!!0 -
What do you mean the company won't allow you to pay it?
Are you saying they won't pay your wages as normal on the 10th?
Does this loan from an old friend cover the period of no pay between the old and new job?
There are some great people on here, so i'm sure we'll find a way through this.Current Debt: 0%.Current House Deposit: 7%.0 -
I was informed that should my company pay me on the 10th as normal then as I was leaving said company on 4th then they would demand the money back. They pay in advance so that money would not be mine in effect. I was led to believe earlier that should in the event of my wages being paid in on 10th (as cut off date is well past) I would be allowed to repay it back in regular amounts every month till debt paid. This has proved to be not the case at all. It would also appear that they can stop the payment going through on 10th so I wont have that to pay back - instantly. All very contrary I must say. Sorry for any confusion!!!! LOL
I have spent all afternoon ringing round and have got most of my dds changed to 1st March. The only people who have incurred a penalty on me is my loan payment. Blemain Finance is the company (name and shame) and I have to now pay £5 extra a month for 45 months as the new direct debit date is over 14 days from my other dd date and it will mean that I am now in arrears. The girl who first took my call was a nobrainer so I then spoke to a manager and I asked why should I be penalised just because I have changed a date. I gave up in the end and just agreed to pay the penalty.....
So, the glossy shine has been somewhat dimmed by todays events but I am still feeling optimistic..0 -
Well all I can say is keep your head firmly up.
I'm sure if someone said to you, would you pay 16p a day to be able to land this new job, you would have taken it.
I changed jobs last year, and it financially screwed me for about 7 months, until I finally faced my debt with the help of my family. And career and happiness wise i'm so glad I did. In the short term i'm having to cut right back, but in the long term I have a career I enjoy, one which will earn me more money and bring me more satisfaction.

Good luck with the new job.
The only option i could see with regards the finances was to ask for a payment break/holiday on the loan and mortgage. Don't know if that would be possible though.
Although not a blog, you can try setting up a diary in the diaries section - lots of chat goes on there as well as finace stuff.
Hope it all works out for you. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

All of this juggling money around is just "stuff", it will be sorted and you will soon settle in your new post. At least as you will be working for the NHS, you can be assured that your money will be in your bank account on time, if not early, every month, and with the bit extra that you are earning, maybe you will be able to pay the "arrears" on your loan a bit quicker?
Hope it all goes well from here and well done on getting the the job of your dreams! :T"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Thanks everyone! I still have a headache from juggling everything around but at the very least I am trying to get things right....
Mortgage and loan wont do mortgage break or payment holidays. Tried them before and I am not on the right mortgage for that and the loan company like to screw one so far into the ground that leaves no room for 'stuff that happens' and are totally inflexible.
But thanks for all your optimistic and encouraging posts...

I wish you all the very very best for tonight in your new job. How weird for you to be managing people who have previously trained you!! Good for you and I shall toast your success tonight!!
