Good on you, really hope it all works out for you.

I've been the same - one day everything seems impossible then the next day you realise its not as bad, and you can do it.

I once applied for a job in the same company and my boss blocked it. I went in to see him and said I really wanted to apply and didn't think wasn't a valid reason for him to refuse. So he said oh, just apply for it then, you won't get it anyway because you're !!!!ing useless.

I got the job and it was the start of a very good career for me.

Just wondered also - If you pay council tax over ten months like many of us you will have 2 months free of that coming up so a bit extra cash/less outgoings?!

I hope you did take the job - It can be so difficult ot juggle these things in regards to pay etc but like someone mentioned you can also change the dd on things such as mortgages etc.

You could ask your fuel company to stop monthly and send you a quartery instead (itll mean saving for that to come though then you can change it back to monthly after that) Im not sure but you may be able to do the same with water.

also I dont know if you have sky/virgin or the likes but you can change payment dates with them too and it usually skips a month as someone earlier said - just means the next payment will be a bit more.

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Just a thought or two........Does the NHS job need a CRB check? If so, it may take a few weeks to come through, which will give you a bit more time to sort out your finances.

Also...I had a similar problem a few years ago when I worked for a company who paid me in advance. I had an overpayment of around £400, (which we spent on a car ) after I left the job. I too, had a few nasty letters but I called up the payroll department and they let me pay it back at £50/month. I didn't get any notes on my credit file or anything like that and they certainly didn't take me to court!

I do hope this all goes well for you and I'm glad you slept on it and that you feel a bit more positive now. Good luck in your new career! :T:T

  • Just an update. I got the official nod this morning -YIPPEE. I am soooo excited I can hardly wait!!! Anyway - more to the point. Money. They want me to start on Monday 7th. Which means that I wont get any wages until the end of February. But and this is a whopper - an old old friend of mine has offered to lend me the money (the money I would have got from present employers on 10th) and pay it back when I can (ie next wages or onwards). Yes, I know I have to pay it back - it is a loan and not a gift) but it gives me the chance to start a new job and not to hve to worry about money - well, bills actually!!! I am in enough !!!!!! without having to give that one some more of my energy......

I cant tell you how much your posts have meant to me and I would love to meet you all to say a proper thank you! But I am sure you will understand that this is just as sincere and heartfelt. You made the whole thing possible and now I can move forward without worrying toooo much now.

Thank you all and wish me luck for Monday - I have got to remember not to drive to my present job and go to the hospital and not as a patient!!!!!

  • Been following the thread Mrs Stressed and just wanted to say congratulations and how happy I am that all has worked out well
Good Luck in your new job :-)
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

  • If your new employer has offered you the job, then they are clearly prepared to invest in you.

To them, starting the recruitment hunt again will cost them greatly.

I am sure they would consider an advance or joining bonus if you explain your situation.

  • Awwww Mrs Stressed, absolutely delighted to hear that - I love MSE, what can seem an insurmountable problem is so often washed away once others have had a chance to look at it from a different viewpoint.

All the very best for Monday and your new career.

  • I am like an over excited youngster at the moment. Cant stop smiling. I told the guy in the hospital that I was so excited and he must have thought I was an idiot. Never mind!! Anyway, I am off to do the 'proof of me' stuff today and back in to do my last three days this week in present job. The money thing is a really big worry but I cannot in all honesty pass this chance by. My line manager said she was concerned (mmmm....) that I wouldnt be able to manage this and that and I just simply said that if we dont try new challenges as life presents them we dont get anywhere and we have noone to blame but ourselves. She made no comment as she has been in her job for 25 years and always wanted to work in a bank - so that one has passed her by.....

Thank you guys for everything. I shall report in on Monday and let you know how it goes - that is if you want me too...... I dont want to bore you all!!

    Love and thanks Mrs S
