Buyer trying it on

Sold a football shirt that was in superb condition, the buyer then sends me a message to say that the shirt had a lot of tiny brown marks on it. Got the shirt back and it did indeed have said marks, plus rubbing to the neck etc. This was not my shirt for certain, it had obviously been swapped, however had to refund as the powers that be would side with the buyer for sure. Threw the shirt returned away, couldn't bear to look at it as it felt dirty.

I agree, the 2 things my buyer stole frome me cost less than £3.
Real scummy buyers around. Ebay always side with the buyers too, just not fair as its the sellers who pay their wages etc.0 -

I try not to sell anything without inspecting, and I find all sorts of problem... damage, wrong specs, wrong item altogether, filthy etc etc
PS ignore the previous poster's advice, you may end up being the one getting caught for malicious behaviour towards a competitor...
I bought 2 sets of those crade/highchair/prams from ELC when they were on at £18 - one of the highchairs had pen marks on it and one of the cradles was missing a screw and falling apart.
I am not saying that your buyer is right but items can arrive faulty even if the box is sealed...0 -
I think that even though it goes against the grain, I would conceed a small partial refund in this instance to get the case closed. Remember to block the buyer from making further purchases in any case. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

I dont sell much, its a new account so a negative will have a b ig impact. Im not a retailer its DD christmas mone off nan
Since it is a new account, you could just simply start a new one.
I'm inclined to agree that a small 'good will' gesture to get her off your back might be the best way to end this... though I'd want to strangle her really! I think it always feels worse when a child's money is involved!0 -
I got a negative and am now suspended!Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0

What?! You got suspended for one negative?!
I'm so sorry to hear that. I suggest you ring ebay and be very firm about asking them to investigate this. Please let us know how you get on

Not sure if its to do with her dispute seems too much of a coiincidence though. emweaver, I was going to post to stress that due to your previous circumstances that you need to be cautious with this, it looks like I am too late.
Ok, so now you need to do two things, firstly work out if this time you can once again reclaim your ebay account and two how to deal with this buyer.
Starting with two, I would suggest that as buyer has already gone for the neg that you now just stop with any co operation at all, she has no cards left to play with. Insist that you will refund on return or nothing, stick to your guns. There is nothing at all you can do to hurt the buyer, so just make her game more difficult.
The firts point though is harder, I note this is a new account, did ebay allow you to open this or is it in someone elses name? You really need to be careful here and not risk your future if you decide you want to stay with ebay. Firstly is the ban temprary or permanent, I would suspect only temporary as unless you still have any banned accounts from the past I can't see then banning you permanently for one problem. So, contact ebay, show them you did everything in your power to resolve this with the buyer, if the first person you talk to doesn't listen, phone back and get to talk to someone else. Ask them for their rules in getting the account reinstated, stress you will work with them to achieve this.

This is irrelevant now, in a way, but what I meant was that when selling, no matter what, no matter where (high street, market, car boot, ebay) scamming is to be expected. Big retailers build thieving and scamming in their business model, it's part of life.
I don't know what you could have done better, but you did your best, and even followed advice from this board.
Hope things turn out fine, and that you get your account back quickly.

Would say that if your account is suspended you won't have access to that woman's contact details to give her a refund of any sort will you?? Serves her right.Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. -- Sally Koch0
