If you like you can call 191 and ask for a troupe of dancing midgets on a bouncy castle to be sent to your house on the weekend.

They will agree to this. You can then call again and speak to someone else for confirmation. They will confirm.

They will tell you whatever you want to hear.

:(Hi, I am in a very similar position with vodafone. We capped my daughters bill on a new contract at £1 to ensure no large bills. This was advised by the sales person who sold the contract over the phone. However we are now sitting with a £350 bill one month later. Have gone through the same as you. I have written to them asking them to look into the recordings, only to receive a standard letter saying they were sorry I wasn't happy with the service and that they no longer provided that type of service. Even though I checked a few days later with another vodafone employee to ensure the cap was in place and no 0845 or abroad numbers could be called. Feel I am banging my head off a brick wall.

Most mobile phones come with a record feature. Why don't you ring again on record, get them to confirm again that they have set a cap, then send the recording to the CEO with your circumstances outlined? I am betting you will get a result.
  • I wonder if the Vodafone representatives, could cast some light on your problem?

As per my earlier post, I would like to know if capping is possible? A simple yes or no is all i require.

Spend Checker was discontinued quite some time ago due to the unreliability of the service.

Tesco do it on a Sim Only deal.

Three offer the ability to set a low or Zero credit limit but then specifically state they don't guarantee it will work in all circumstances and that you will still be liable if you manage to exceed it.

Most networks have offered it in the past but few do now.
  • Well, that's funny because just yesterday I spoke with a customer services agent at vodafone and they said that they have now capped it at 50 pence over the £10 per month I pay and when I was passed over to collections to sort a payment out she confirmed that customer services had put a cap on it. So vodafone, make your minds up, you either do or you don't, which is it? I also asked the customer services if I could pay £50 yesterday and then set up a direct debit to pay the rest off at £10 per month, bear in mind this is when I just thought it was £290, She said yes that would be no problem and that my husbands and daughters phone would be switched straight back on. When I got through to collections she told me something completely different. I was also assured that the manager would ring me back either yesterday evening or today to help, so far, no phonecall. I am at my wits end.

Unfortunately getting more & more uncommon, which is a shame because it's actually a far better thing to include on a phone than a facebook client, or yet another non-flash browser. :p

Many high-end dumbphones had such features, and of course the proper smartphones like the Palms & suchlike, but these more consumer-based phones like BB curves & even many newer HTCs don't bother with it, or they make it impossible through poor hardware design.

I had to use 3rd party software which does funky things to the registry in order to get proper call-recording to work on my (hardly new) phone, but yes!

Your point is very valid & is actually what I do all the time now, I scour the "say no to XXX-number" sites to get a landline # for whoever I need to call & I always, always record it even if I'm just checking if I properly amended an online S/order or something equally mundane.
