Microsoft windows does send reports when your computer has a tantrum, but Microsoft NEVER ring you, if they have a solution it either comes in the form of a update or as a error report solution that comes at the same time as your update are checked. I have had a couple and usually before they sent the solution the program was already updated and the issue fixed from the software company.

When i get cold called, i just say "how did you get this number? i am on witness protection". They Hang up like a shot.

But still receive them from those that either are not signed up to the scheme ignore the scheme or are based in a sunny climate .

My mum had a similar call but he said he was from 'Windows'. She started talking to him about how they had recently had new windows and doors installed so weren't interested. It wouldn't surprise if it was the scammer who ended up hanging-up.

Hi got one of these the other day too - thought it was dodgy and put the phone down after getting a phone number off them - then found the anwer here while they ran up and left me a message - so told them where to go when they got me next time. Good to have this site to know for sure though
