I got 2 hours once, many years ago, from one of those prerecorded message autodialler scams. It had "please press 1 to hear this message" at the end.

So with my partner who had taken the call pressing 1, I knocked up a quick script to have my modem dial 1 every 1 minute and 27 seconds to trigger the message to loop one more time. After 2 hours someone cut it off.

I'm a fan of answering and then pushing the mute button. See how long it takes for them to hang up.

I let them go through their whole routine but they invariably hang up when I tell them I don't use MSWindows.

Likewise, I let him go through all his spiel and then informed him I was running Linux. He then told me that they dont support Linux and hung up.
  • Next time I shall take a leaf out of your books and put him on hold for an hour or so.

I kept one of the busy for a while when I asked him to explain to me where I could find the "windows" icon on my desktop.

Gosh we struggled for ages but no sign of it:D

Similar situation, although I asked him to wait while I individually booted up my imac and macbook, then asked him to wait again while i found a cable to plug into my headless ubuntu server...

After confessing I couldn't find this "start menu" he hung up..

I'd be tempted to see if they would wait while I install XP onto another old desktop.. lets hope they call again!
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!
