Car parking at work

Ask for sight of the Risk Assessment for the temporary car park. That might cause a few red faces and action..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

lmao, great expense to the public... You have no clue do you! Do you realise how much the council pay themselves for being "consultants"??? Do you know what these "consultants" actually do??? Put it this way, you'd be able to tarmac over the whole car park for cheaper than the council pay themselves for the "work" they do on it.
Typical stupid public sector worker....has no clue where the money comes from and doesn't care either.
So the council do it themselves and pay themselves to do it. They still have to pay staff wages and buy the materials - both costs which don't get recycled back into the councils money pot. Guess who pays for that? The taxpayer.0 -
Would if I could, but this isn't anything to do with a solution. It's about the same as buying some wellies. Everyone's got an answer, but it's not the answer to the question I'm asking...
Or just not the answer you want to hear.
From the pictures you uploaded its only a bit of mud, its on a flat surface and dosen't appear very deep, (if it was deep you would wheelspin and get stuck).
It will not damage your car.
Get a pair of wellys for walking between the car and the school building and get a life.0 -
You have had plenty of advice / suggestions. There is no legal req for your employer to provide a car park. If they didn't what would you do? Walk, public transport, cycle, or park close by. Do that, until the problem is resolved if you don't wish to park on the temporary field.0

I suspect if you start making a complaint he may tell you that he may withddrawl parking altogether, likes others have said there is no legal requirement to offer parking nor should there. With all budget cuts and places facing the squeeze if they made temporary car park where will the money come from?
If you dont like the car parking arrangement then make alternative arrangements, lifts, different transport or park else where but make sure you do so not to annoy residents0 -

There is no legal obligation for an employer to provide parking for the workforce. I am aware that your employer has provided a temporary solution whilst some building works are being carried out but you don't have to park there you could quite easily make other arrangments to get to work even to the point of lift sharing so there is less damage to the playing field. Be thankful that your employer doesnt charge you for parking because I am aware that some employers do that.
I know that people have suggested taking wellingtons and this is not a bad idea considering the mud - you can change your footwear when you get into work and as for claiming damage to your car from mud build up then the alternative is to take your car to the jetwash a bit more often for a thorough clean. Brakes do wear out through excessive and heavy usage but not because they are a bit muddy.
I can honestly say that I have never had brake problems caused by excessive mud and I used to drive a rally car off road every weekend.
If you are so concerned then a letter to the governers and maybe a letter to the education authority may help.0 -
As others have said, employers are not required to provide parking, free or otherwise for their employees unless your contract specifically states it.
They are doing this as a temporary measure to avoid complete closure of the carpark.
You can make alternative arrangements or just put up with it. I suspect if people start to cry fault over failed MOTs etc. then the head will have no alternative but to remove the facility to try to avoid litigation.
Putting hardcore down is not cheap, nor will it last long - essentially it's a waste of money.
The areas you photographed do look particularly awful I have to agree. But we have had very snowy and wet weather recently so this is bound to improve as we get nearer spring (hopefully!).
Try to organise your belongings so you leave a lot of it on the premises instead of taking it home perhaps? Stay later to do marking and paperwork instead of taking it home? Look for ways around this temporary situation instead of complaining about it - far more productive. Hey why not get pupils to make suggestions even?0 -
Your question as far as I could see was, 'what can we say about it'?
Well, you can say alot! Or nothing at all...the question is - what result do you actually want here?
If you force the Head's hand then yes, he might well remove the temp car park. Is that an option that you are prepared to end up with?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
