What about sharing lifts with the other teachers. Less cars on the field should reduce some of the issues and means the car park will get less churned up, cars less regularly 'exposed' to the dangers etc.0

Would if I could, but this isn't anything to do with a solution. It's about the same as buying some wellies. Everyone's got an answer, but it's not the answer to the question I'm asking...
If I had asked for alternative things to try, then thank you for the comments. But I would like an answer to my questions0 -
That looks very slippy. If I had to park there, I would probably slip and fall over and feel that something had been hurt which would need and ambulance and.............do I need to continue?.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
The only viable alternative is to put some hardcore down, but the head has already said no. So I guess you'll just have to put up with it until the carpark is finished, any accidents that happen will be on his head.0

OK you have asked the head-teacher, and he/she isn't sympathetic. In your position, I would write a very polite respectful letter to the board of governors (address it to the chair). I wouldn't make a big deal about damage to vehicles (which is a moot point), but do point out that it is very slippery and could be a H&S issue (you should have a governor who has responsibilty for H&S), and also make the point that the staff are bringing mud into school on their shoes every day, which must be adding to the workload of the cleaning staff.
As well as making the complaint in the letter, you would be well advised to suggest one or two solutions to the problem, for the board to consider. IF you can provide an estimate of the costs involved, all the better (but don't just make them up).
You may want to co-sign this letter with a number of your colleagues, assuming you have colleagues who feel the same way as you do ??
I'm a school governor, and I know my board of governors would consider such a matter, and ask the head to act accordingly.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

You've got advice. Buy some wellies. QED.0 -
If I was the head/governors and the OP and her colleagues kept making this fuss I'd point out the car parking was a perk and therefore withdrawn until completely refurbished in order to meet the H&S they were so worried about......0
