Thanks to those who have replied seriously.

As I stated, I was bathing my daughter, and if you have kids you know this isn't exactly a quiet process. Plus the bathroom is on the other side of the house.

But anyway, my point is that they called the police out without coming round first. we are not unreasonable people and would of turned the TV down if it was causing them that much bother.

Oh and they have never, ever said anything about the volume of the tv to us.

i explained to the police what had happened before and he said 'i understand where you're coming from, we'll go and have a word with them' and he also said 'so they havent even been around?'

We're just going to ignore it and carry on, albeit with the TV a little quieter.

edit - oh and another thing i remember is the guy nextdoor trying to set his dog onto our cat and laughing. once i overheard him i shouted my cat in and he ran off inside.

So your neighbour has probably been told not to waste police time in future?

What are you trying to acheive in your thread? There does not seem to be much anyone can advise you to do.

We have constant problems with ours. Have tried several and they just don't last.
If anyone has a recommendation I'd like to know! Suspect a bell on a rope is needed here.

We just have a loud buzzer thing, been going strong for over 15 years.

    Nothing fancy

We have tried them all - plain and fancy.
Our house faces north and it gets very cold and damp on the front of the house.
The lady who lived here before didn't have a doorbell.

Keeps a limit on the cold callers then!
  • Seems that your neighbour is acting rather out of proportion. I can only suggest to ask your council if they have a Mediator for this type of situation because you would like to come to some amicable solution. Good luck
  • There is a mediation service that is provided by local councils. Get in touch with your council and request that you use their services.

Of course the problem is that if you make it all official, should you come to sell you are legally obliged to disclose that information to any seller. But then so are they.

Very true. Does this also include that the police have now been involved-making it offical.

    Tx in advance
