We're having roast, chicken, salmon or veggie option, with a baked potato, and then having lots of pasta salads, potato salads, rices, couscous, raw veggies, salads, breads, cheeses, croutons, sauces and dips set out so that everyone can build their own meal to eat together at the tables.

    I don't know if that's buffet-style or sit-down!
I was leaning toward a sit-down meal but there's no way we could afford it for 70 people, so this is the best compromise!
    Life on a shoestring!

Its going to be difficult keeping it from him though as we share everything else.

Same here, im finding it really hard to keep stuff from him because i just want to tell him! LOL

Can I just ask what are everyone's thoughts on a sit down wedding breakfast as opposed to a buffet style meal.
We arent having a sit down meal (just because i wanted a more relaxed wedding and thought a sit down meal was a little too 'formal' for what we wanted, so we are having afternoon tea, and then a bbq at night x

Hi Katyann, just about your meal, I dont think guests these days expect anything in particular. After speaking to quite a few venues recently, i came to realise that people have such different things.
    exactly :)

I tried to multi quote a few other messages but it wouldnt work!! :(

Joanne...again totally with you on keeping the OH in the dark! Im dying to ask his opinion on things.
What about bouquets? ive shown him my ideas...but now i dont know if i should of kept it a secret or not.
One part of me wants to tell him nothing at all so its an ultimate surprise. and the other half wants me to show him everything! LOL

Fiona...are you letting him choose his own suit then? My OH needs all the help he can get so im helping choose what the groomsmen wear etc....plus he would probably pay over the odds as he has no clue! LOL

i had a slight panic on yesterday in the car....i thought...12 months?!?! its nothing! we are suddenly half way through the year and its gone nowhere! With me making my way through cake orders...i still think im in february! i really need to sort stuff because i just wont have the time!!

I did knock up my own finger print tree template last night though :)

    what do you think?

Hopefully it will look ok with some 'leaves' on it like these ones:

  • Love the tree Tracey!

Multiquote only allows a maximum of three posts, unfortunately. I found this out when repeatedly trying to quote about five messages and getting very annoyed!! :o

I know what you mean about wanting to tell H2B about things - each time I've got back from my parents after working on my dress I just want to show him all my photos cos I get so excited about it!

As for H2B's suit, I'm not sure how we're going to work it out exactly in terms of whether I get any input over the colour or style, but he will get to choose overall. I would prefer brown suits because they will go better with the colour of my dress, but we probably won't be able to afford to hire suits for everyone so may end up just telling the groomsmen to wear a grey suit they already own which we'll put ties/cravats and waistcoats with, then get H2B and maybe Best Man their suits. But I won't be choosing them for him. As long as he wears a suit that he's comfortable and happy in, and that doesn't clash horribly with everything else, it's fine by me! He's fairly good at that kind of thing actually, so I trust him!

    thanks Fiona!

ahh thats probably why i couldnt do it then! LOL will remember that for next time :)

thats good that you can trust him to choose something. My OH is useless at stuff like that LOL
Maybe just keep hinting you like brown and see what happens ;)
Maybe the groomsmen will chip in for their own suits?

Has anybody thought of card boxes too?

Some people hire 'post boxes', some have 'card' boxes with a slot in, some have suitcases, wooden boxes etc.
    What are you doing? xx

I just came on to report the above spammer when I saw these - these are beautiful!! Okay now this sort of 'guest' book I could very easily see us doing and keeping on display. Thank you so much for sharing these. (And I can draw the tree I used to draw all the time as a early teen -a silver birch! - although not sure how the leaves would look on it!)

    Thanks very much! :)

If your not keen on trees, you can have bikes/houses/balloons etc:

I have managed to photograph the ring (and hopefully upload it properly).

It's so not what I would have chosen but I can't imagine being without it now.
