yeah it makes sense how you cant pull it down and stuff but it doesnt make sense them telling you its a perfect fit when you know its not, your wearing it and youve had experience of this sort of thing
the smallest hoop they had is it the smallest you can get or can you get a smaller one from a different shop/ebay?
eta.. ithink the alterations are steep too, my shop steams the dress for freeI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
exactly! glad someone understands LOL they are selling dresses all day everyday so how can they say it fits?! lol
The hoop I have is the smallest they can get apparently. Cost me £40 but I dont really think I can do without it. I love how it looks on the model (not very poofy at all) but without the hoop theres just so much material inside that i feel im having to kick it a metre infront just so i can take a step lol
Thought the dress buying part was supposed to be the most fun! For me its been the worst experience of any kind of planning ive ever had! ha ha x:dance:

Yes, I think that it's way too much!!
Your dress shop ladies are idiots. Tell them that it doesn't fit comfortably and that you want it adjusted to fit YOU.
Can they get the DM to cut out any of the underlayers?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Its the DM's that say I dont need to cut the train off as its too nice to cut (there is no detail in it so i dont see why not!)
and to not add anymore bling as it 'doesnt need it...its too classic'
(words i didnt want to hear! I dont want classic...i want new and fun)
But its hard to get away with sewing bling on a silver dress
Would they not have to shorten all the boning etc too to make it shorter? Im just hoping something can be done because im not happy with it
I keep looking at all those fun non-shiny ruffles on the other dress. Though im still in the mode of 'what if it make me look bigger?' I dont really have a 'waist' Im quite big boned around the middle LOL:dance:

that dress with the sash creates a waist though doesnt it, do you know about linda @ no9? id ring or pm her and see what she says, she will give you an honest opinion of what can be done, im not sure she can fit you in to do it though she gets booked up years in advance!I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0

!!!!!!! Their opinion doesn't matter! You should have what you want! They are happy enough to take your money but not alter the dress to your liking. I can see why you're so cross. If they weren't being so inflexible I'd say you would be totally happy with the dress.
Speak to them and tell them the truth - that it's costing you £1,000 and you're not happy with it as it is, you want the train shortened, you want some bling on it, you want to see if the DM can alter the bodice etc etc.7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

linda at no9?! never heard of that lol
Thanks wanchai, I think I need to go on my own as the first time I tried it on when it came into the shop my mum and dad came (they ran me 2 hours to collect it!) I said I didnt like the big train, to which everyone in the shop disagreed and said to keep it. (where they also said its a perfect fit)
Then I took it to my local dress shop who said they would help me with it (i didnt want to give the shop in coventry anymore money as they pushed me into buying it) they said I could cut some off and maybe just have a 'puddle' train. Which made me feel better...my mum still disagreed. But they did say it would probably cost more to have it cut off rather than bustled up.
Then I took it to the dressmakers where I tried it on for alterations who said to keep the train, my mum was there once again (i dont drive!) and agreed the train should be kept. I just got that damn annoyed that stuff would cost me extra money, people keep disagreeing with my decisions that i just said FINE! keep it then LOL
I have to say though my local dress shop are fabulous (i didnt buy my dress from them, they have taken me under their wing) and i cant really say a bad word about them, they even told me where to buy bling for it. Yet everyone else just keeps disagreeing...it doesnt need it, theres nowhere to put it, it will look silly.
This whole dress thing is poolol
