BT Infinity install gone wrong!

Very true, but it is worth my while and to be honest there is only BT Retail & Plusnet offering FTTH/P at the moment on these trials so it was always going to be a BT group company in the end.

I've notice other saying they offer FTTH but the openreach chap who fitted my equipment had only done BT & plusnet installs although he had been trained on others.

Did I mention the nightmare install??? Thats a different story but I can only praise the openreach engineers who worked on the job as I had been the first fitting on this particular part of the estate and when they tried to fit the fibre it was getting stuck. This meant replacing some equipment in the road, even then when all fitted they could not get a signal so worked back through the ducts.

At the top of our estate they found that the fibres from the exchange had been incorrectly fitted by the contractors and one engineer ended up covered in grease and dirt refitting it all. After 9 hours of working on it they finally switched it on and worked perfectly, the one comment that was made is that if I had not be a trial customer they would have abandoned the job that morning.

Since fitting I have only had one break down, due to a power failure the system didn't reboot properly and stalled. That was soon solved by the trial faults team.
These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!

I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!
  • It's amazing how quickly Executive Level Complaints sort these things out. You should see the number of BTCare posts that then don't get followed through on on the BT Community website, about as much use as a chocolate teapot. One email and you get a direct dial number in the UK to somebody who will OWN the problem from beginning to end
