Just did a search with matrix.itasoftware.com and booked with Qatar Air. The price stayed the same throughout.

Agreed. I've been looking at flights on kayak and skyscanner. They seem to direct you mostly to opodo and edreams. You go through to these and they say "Oh sorry the price has changed." (by over £100 in one case). But you refresh the search on kayak or skyscanner and the cheaper price is still showing. It just seems like they're lying.
I am not sure if it is the scraper or opodo which is lying. I have noticed this with flying to South America but only with Canadian airlines - with all other airlines the price stays the same.
  • I have booked several flights UK - Ireland this year and found cheapest is google dot com forward slash flights. It's showing more than £100 off for the 5 of us compared to either Ryanair website or Skyscanner etc.

Googleflights directs to Ryanair so you pay whatever price Ryanair website is showing.

If you choose another airline and follow a redirect (with any price comparison site) to some shonky OTA and not the airline, you've no idea whether the price even exists.

I tend to use skyscanner in Europe ,US tends to get the best results from Kayak or Google flights. The flight I'm tracking at the moment is with google no one else is offering the same fare and it directs to book it direct with the airline (it's an ex euro with a different destination and return airport) .
There's no one best for all destinations though.

I find the best one seems to vary quite a lot.
  • ASAP travel agency in USA. Booking with BA / One World

I seem to find most of the advertised 'Business Class 50%' savings are just a headline grabber after making several enquiries, then had a reply from ASAP travel. They appear UK based and have a london office, but bookings are made from the US, so for USA travel from the UK works well.

    I've made 2 bookings:
    - LHR to SDF via MIA, Business class (BA 744). Return fare was under £2k GBP vs BA direct at over £3k
    - MAN to SDF via CLT, Busineess class (this time AA A330-200) under £1500, saving £245 vs direct pricing.

Tickets have been issued and no problem with their service.

I'm not affiliated to ASAP in any way at all.
  • I always use Travelicita.com Best prices there.
  • Another rather random post. Quiet day in Travelicita offices? ;)

How can a price comparison site have better prices than any other price comparison site? Unless they only 'deal' with the more shonky OTAs who advertise ridiculous fictitious prices :D

I checked and their prices were no better than anywhere else. However despite saying that, I have many times in the past searched 4 sites and often one is cheaper than the rest - but it is never the same one twice!
