Seller sent me wrong item - but its more EXPENSIVE than mine!

Ordered some bath/shower fittings & accessories - cost me £14.99 + £10 p&p. Arrived on time BUT they actually sent me items (that are no good to me) worth twice as much and the p&p costs would have been higher (£16)!
WHat should I do? Sure I can email them, and let them know (they are a firm that have a feedback of 6000+) - my only concern is they will obviously want their item back - but I am not willing to send any item back without having the p&p and handling cost in my hand PRIOR to returning.
And I obviously need the items that I won!
What is the usual process for such situations.

I would be honest...and tell the seller that I have not received my item of xxxxx and want to know when they expect it to arrive. That is being honest isn't it?0

Any decent seller will be thoroughly apologetic for the mistake and refund your postage costs. Of course you will want the funds up front. I had the wrong package delivered just last week and the seller was great about it - she popped the right package in the post immediately with the money to cover the return of the wrong item.
I hope it goes smoothly for you.:wall:0 -
That was very trusting senting the correct package and the money to cover the cost of the wrong item. I would say I would trust her just by her doing that for you Agutka, that what ebay needs but with all ther scammers and all sellers and buyers dont trust each other.0

What makes you so special to tell me my opinion is stupid? Point out where I have lied then ehh?
Sure, I can point out the sellers error to them, but my priority is to get what I purchased. Some people. :mad:0 -
I HAD exactly the same prob last week only I asked for the postage and the seller sent emails upon emails telling me I was a liar, a thief(signed for it, wasn't what I ordered so emailed him-that makes me a liar and a thief!!) and that it was a police matter if I did not return immediately the item and he would 'hold to ransom' what I originally ordered and payed for until I did that!!! The man was not all there me thinks!!0

I would wait and see what they say to do next. Chances are that they will be fine about it and pay for your return postage - however some people - including myself - wouldnt pay for the return postage until it was back in my hands.Weight Loss - 102lb0

Very tricky this one. Wait for a response from the seller before doing anything else. They probably have had multiple items ending at the same time and has simply addressed the packages wrongly, BUT thats not your fault and you shouldn't have to pay any further costs. If I were the seller, I would in the first instance apologise for the mistake then ask you return the item to me and I would re-emburse your postal charges for both your original £10 and for the £16 it will cost for the returned item and hope the arrangement goes to recipient of your purchase. Okay I will be out of pocket to the tune of £52, but I wouldn't make the same mistake again.I'm back after a break :money:0

He has responded - asking for a photo of the item sent. I just pointed to a link of an identical item he is currently selling.
Not heard since.
Will update:)0
