Seller sent me wrong item - but its more EXPENSIVE than mine!

But what kind of buyer NEEDS the money up front?
The seller has sold thousands.. so I am sure he wont vanish when the buyer sends back the item.
The buyer doesnt have time to return it? But has time on here?
If he doesnt have time, then he wont have time once the seller gives him his money back.. therefore the seller should worry.
Im sorry, but there is zero logic to the reasoning behind needing the money up front.
Would you (a seller of thousands) send a buyer £16 if he claimed his £14.99 item was sent incorrectly? Probably not. Ebay is full of people who try it on, and the seller could have been stung before. For all the seller knows, the buyer may not have received the wrong item at all.
Im not saying the OP would do this, but I can fully understand the seller.Be nice0 -

You are talking absolute nonsense!
1. The package is heavy - weighs 4.5 kg. I cant carry that to the post office, and I dont have a vehicle at the moment.
2. My nearest PO is approx 3 miles away.
3. I have perfect 100% feedback - and am noted for my helpfulness. They have a quite a few Negs due to bad attitude etc.
4. I have a 30% disability. Unfortunately, I do have time to post on this board (approx 600 posts in 3 years - shockingly high isnt it!). To post this message to taook 2 mins. To take back an item on the bus would involve 4 buses there and back and bewtwwn 2-3 hours!!!
5. If it wasnt for my HONESTY, he would nt have been aware of the wrong item being sent. I could have simply cashed in on it and sold it on and made a minimum 50% profit.
I even took a photo of the item and with todays newspaper in the background and his packaging to confirm I had his bloody items!0 -
so how WILL you post it back?
Parcelforce collect, btw.... no vehicle needed...Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
I think it has been resolved. I sent another email to them, reminding them of the chain of events and who made the mistake and who was 'good citizen' in this transaction. I got a reply within 2 minutes.
He has decided to send my ACTUAL item via Courier - who will be instructed to pick up the INCORRECT items.
Thats all I wanted - I'm not out of pocket in the hope that I will be reimbursed postage.
Thanks for those that offered suggestions - the emails I fired off did the trick:)0 -
Good one, I am happy for you getting it sorted.0

Companys should allow for this type of thing and make contingency plans that do not leave the buyer out of pocket with minimum disruption.
It would have been different if it was an occasional or one off seller.
I am glad you got is sorted out in the end.0 -
Another twist....
Courier came - brought the CORRECT items (which I have checked & they are fine)
BUT
He refused to take away the old items - said it wasnt on his list to do!!!
Now what?0 -
Get the guy to send the courier back to collect.
I don't know why they even bothered offering to exchange, unless you didn't actually want the more expensive items, the cost of sending the correct item and returning the incorrect item is surely not far off the difference anyway!0 -

I needed a tap unit for a sink/basin unit - was sent a heavier, more expensive bath/shower attachment unit - which is fine....but NO USE to me - hence the hullabalo!
I leave it in his court - he can contact me if he wants to arrange collection.0
