Interview for a job where no salary was stated?

  • Training Co-ordinator I would expect could range from as I said anything like NMW to 35k depending on how involved it is in actually organising and faciliitating the training rather than just the administrative aspects of the co-ordination.
  • It is more than just organising and facilitating the training .... Very interesting JD actually.. but still no reply to my email about salary range LOL
  • So your basically scared about this interview just because you dont kow how much it pays? Yet it seems from yoru description to be very important job but yet you feel you may not be able to take because of your dog?

Get a grip please. I dont mean to be sounding so mean but at this present time and with you being unemployed you really should be looking at any job to get back into the swing of things.

i just cannot understand why you would turn down the offer of work because it may not pay what you were used to - im sure anything is better then whatever dole money is nowadays.

Ceridwen - thanks for posting.... On their site it also says about late evenings/weekends etc... sigh.... No good at all.

Oh, I hope for the best but I am prepared for the worst now.

Just wonder what happens to JSA if I "accidently" fail the interview and there are some notes about it on their system later.

It would be such a shame as I like the JD/field/idea of working in THAT place but I really, REALLY can not afford to work for some silly money - while working my expenses go up a lot so need to be able to cover those... grrr

If you decide you need to "fail the interview" its probably as well to be subtle about it - ie a succession of tiny little things (each of which is too small for the employer to mention if asked) but cumulatively are sufficient to do the trick.

hmm.....maybe you could develop a nasty personal habit or two if need be? (I can think of one or two things that would put a lot of people off - ie personal "grooming" type things of the type any halfway reasonable person wouldnt go in for publicly:rotfl:). If they look the type of people to whom manners are important - then a bit of a display of "bad manners" might be as well. By the time someone had indulged in a bit of "personal grooming" type stuff in front of me and yawned visibly (and without covering their mouth) I would be politely winding up the interview as soon as possible (having decided I wouldnt be employing the person concerned - no matter how good their qualifications/experience). Errrmm....at a personal level ...I remember feeling somewhat surprised/what's going on? about having to share a couple of meals with someone and realising that they tuck napkins into their collar (rather than putting them on their lap - as I automatically do). I'd never even seen anyone do this ever before (except perhaps on tv) - and I know there is nothing "wrong" with doing it that way - but it was offputting.

Errrmm...back in my "dating days" I realised a particular boyfriend wanted to finish with me but take the cowards way out of "setting ME up" to be the one who apparently finished it. The way I realised was because the manners I thought he had started getting replaced by what was obviously his normal behaviour (carefully hidden previously...) and he did things that I find offputting (like celebrating a football result he was watching on tv with mates by deliberately tipping his drink over his head). I watched openmouthed - I'd never even heard of anyone doing this (but it seemed to be something he expected to be regarded as common behaviour!) and he stopped being particular about things like opening doors for me, etc. Nothing "wrong" with his behaviour objectively speaking - but adding the various "bits and pieces" up....hmmm...I duly obliged and DID finish with him.

So - I think that could be the clue - ie finding ways to do things that arent "wrong" as such - but will be offputting to anyone with "standard middle class manners". That should guarantee not getting the job - if thats what you need to do. But you won't have done anything the Jobcentre could possibly quote as having deliberately failed it on purpose.

Will keep fingers crossed though, as I said, that you get a pleasant surprise.

Ceridwen - thaks for that. Your post made me laugh :)
May ask for a ciggy break 20 min into the interview ;)

No, getting ANY job will not get me in the "swing of things" - it will bring me down quite considerably and at many levels - and I probably would not able to get back into MY field after something like that.

Jeff and Empty - I will not take a job much below my expected wage for a lot of reasons. Being able to pay a dog walker while I am out in a full time job is just ONE of them. I do not expect you to understand or symphatise so lets just leave it here.

    Thanks for posting :)

You are up to your eyes in debt. You value your dogs more than you do your self respect. I am with the others - you need a reality check.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Really - you think so?

You are entitled to your own opinion but it is my self respect does not allow me to take on a job not related to years of sacrifice/training and hard work I have put into it only to be reduced to some NMW "whatever".

And before the usual flaming starts - I do not live of anyone's taxes, I am currently taking back a little bit of my own Taxes/NI whatever else that I have paid for years of working and paying massive taxes...Till I find a SUITABLE job.

    Thanks for posting

Tax and NI payments are not a savings fund!

As said before, soon enough you will not have a choice as to what jobs you can apply for. I am also intrigued as to what you intend to do with the dog when you have to attend compulsory JCP courses!

I wouldn't - specific industries can be small worlds and annoying habits can easily be shared with others...
